The Humanities Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago is accepting applications for the position of a full-time Senior Lecturer in the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse, for a three-year renewable term beginning 1 September 2020. In addition to the appointment as Senior Lecturer, the successful candidate will be appointed as Deputy Director of the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse.

Rooted in the University of Chicago’s principles of freedom of expression and academic inquiry, the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse offers an innovative curriculum in the theory and practice of public discourse and deliberation. It strives to foster open and inclusive public discourse by developing students’ abilities to articulate and communicate their ideas effectively, thereby allowing them to engage productively in civic deliberation and dialogue. Theory-driven as well as practice-oriented, the Parrhesia Program offers courses at multiple levels of instruction, such as courses on the history and theory of free discourse and rhetoric as well as on the principles and practices of public speaking, deliberation, and dialogue. The curriculum aims to develop communicative competence within a wide variety of communities, including academic, professional, and civic.

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher in the area of History of East and South-East Asia, who will be involved in the “Department of Excellence” project. The successful candidate should be capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world.

The position will be hosted in the Department of Asian and North African Studies. The Department has recently received a  “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the department to receive additional state funding to develop innovative projects for the creation of the Marco Polo International Research Centre (MaP) Centre for Global Europe-Asia Connections. Saint Louis University is seeking applicants for a full-time (12-month renewable) faculty position in Communication Studies at the campus in Madrid, Spain. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Communication Studies specialized in new media, popular culture, and audience research. We seek a qualitative researcher trained in ethnographic methods. Candidates must have experience working with an international student population embedded within a culturally diverse educational environment. The candidate should have teaching experience in undergraduate education, and preferably be acquainted with the U.S. educational system of higher education. Teaching responsibilities include core courses such as Public Speaking, New Media & Society, Communication Theory, and upper-level courses such as Popular Culture and Digital Storytelling. In addition to these courses, the candidate should be able to expand our Communication curriculum with courses grounded in his or her area of expertise, including an advanced qualitative research methods course.

The Integrative, Religious, and Intercultural Studies Department at Grand Valley State University invites applications for tenure-line faculty member (assistant professor) with specialization in political ecology, science and technology studies, and/or ethical practice studies with a social justice, social innovation, or transformative approach to broadly serve the department’s growing graduate program in Social Innovation and its undergraduate programs in Integrative Studies (formerly Liberal Studies), Religious Studies, and Intercultural Competence. The Department of Communication invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of communication and diversity. A Lecturer is a full-time, 12-month employee who teaches 39 credits per year and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. Lecturers will be expected to provide high quality teaching, student advisement and learning support services, and service to the university and/or professional community; and perform related work as required. Lecturer positions are non-tenure track and may be renewed on an annual basis.
