The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) seeks current college seniors and advanced-degree students as well as college graduates for full- and part-time internships. Interns provide support to MPI researchers in one or more of the following program areas for research internships: U.S. immigration, U.S. immigrant integration, U.S. immigration and human services, international immigration; or they participate in editorial/communications internships.

MPI is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank based in Washington, DC dedicated to the study of migration worldwide. MPI and its sister organization, the Brussels-based MPI Europe, work closely with policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to analyze, develop, and evaluate migration and refugee policies at local, state, national, and international levels.

Paid Undergrad Summer Internship: Peace & Conflict (USA)

The Peace and Conflict Neuroscience Lab at the University of Pennsylvania, directed by Dr. Emile Bruneau, and in collaboration with Beyond Conflict Innovation Lab, is seeking summer research assistants. This 8-week at 30hr/week (negotiable) paid ($4,500 summer stipend) internship has an anticipated start date of June 2019. RAs will have the option to work in Philadelphia, PA or New York City. The research assistants will work closely with the postdoctoral researchers (Drs. Samantha Moore-Berg and Boaz Hameiri) on projects aimed at identifying the psychological drivers of real-world social conflict, injustice and inequality, and/or affecting change in these intergroup contexts. Applicants with specific interest or direct experience with conflict and/or discrimination are particularly encouraged to apply. This internship is designed to help individuals strengthen their research skills and will include ongoing mentoring and guidance from skilled researchers.

The School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Japanese. This position is full-time with a 2/2 teaching load, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will have (1) a PhD conferred no later than the anticipated appointment start date of August 1, 2019; (2) native or near native fluency in Japanese; (3) an active research and publication agenda; and (4) documented evidence of successful instruction and teaching of Japanese language, culture, and media, particularly at advanced or graduate levels, including applied language and content-based courses.  Preferred areas of expertise include Japanese literature, film studies, media studies, intercultural studies, and science and technology studies. Interest and/or experience in service learning, sustainability, digital humanities, experiential learning, undergraduate and graduate advising, and study abroad is preferred.  Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students. The candidate will be expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Japanese culture as well as specialized courses. This position is full-time with a 2/2 teaching load and is renewable for up to two years.   The successful candidate will have (1) a PhD in hand by August 1, 2019; (2) native or near native-level competence in Chinese; (3) an active research and publication agenda; and (4) documented evidence of successful teaching of Chinese language, at both lower and upper levels, particularly content-based language courses. The candidate will join a robust Chinese program, with  undergraduate majors and minors in Chinese, as well as graduate level instruction. The candidate may teach a variety of courses of interest, including Chinese-American and Chinese culture; cross- and intercultural studies (including languages for business, technology, science, and heritage learners); environmental and media studies; Chinese civilization, thought and philosophy; and the Chinese classics, as well as other specialized courses. The candidate will also be involved in graduate curriculum development in Chinese.
