The Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Migration and Integration at Toronto Metropolitan University invites applications of interest from post-doctoral and more senior researchers for the position of a full-time Project Coordinator for a global partnership project examining complex migration flows and multiple drivers in comparative perspective. This six-year project adopts a socio-ecological systems framework that integrates the different drivers and types of migration. The multidisciplinary project will focus on the following:

  1. Generate new data and combine with existing evidence, to map the links between internal, intra-regional and intercontinental migration along complex corridors of population flows in three migration systems;

  2. Develop and test new analytical models that explain the interplay among migration drivers (environmental conditions, demographic and health factors, economic development dynamics, socio-political issues) taking into account also cultural and emotional processes that eventually shape people’s decisions to migrate; and

  3. Translate research knowledge into policy-tools (by developing digital visualization tools, interactive story-driven dashboards, and infographics modeled on approaches found in contemporary data journalism) that will support an efficient and rights-based governance of international migration.

The Peace and Conflict Studies (PCON) program at Colgate University seeks a visiting assistant professor for a one-year appointment beginning fall semester 2022. The Peace and Conflict Studies program focuses on developing critical understandings of organized violence in all its forms (physical, structural, symbolic, etc.) and how such violence has shaped the world both historically and in the present. The program will consider candidates with training in any disciplinary or interdisciplinary field, and welcomes candidates with any regional specialization, including those whose work focuses on transnational phenomena. Candidates are particularly encouraged to apply if their work engages with marginalized perspectives, spaces, theories, and/or methodologies. All prospective candidates should highlight the ways in which their intellectual interests and teaching competencies are able to situate their empirical research, theoretical engagement, and utilization of critical methodologies (reflexive, collaborative, or otherwise) within a broader understanding of global and historical trends in peace and conflict.

The holder of this position will be able to make teaching contributions at all levels of the program’s curriculum so long as they are consistent with the candidate’s training and the program’s needs. In addition to making contributions to the introductory curriculum (“PCON 111: Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies” and “PCON 218: Practices of Peace and Conflict – War in Lived Experience”), the successful candidate may also contribute to program electives, senior seminars, and the university’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. The annual teaching requirement for Colgate faculty is five courses, typically distributed over two semesters as either a 3/2 or 2/3 load. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to program activities, including lectures, workshops, and events to support faculty scholarship and student engagement. The successful candidate will have a doctorate in hand or will complete the doctorate by the start of the semester.

The (SCOPUS/ISI) GLOCAL COMELA 2022 theme, ‘Bounded Languages … Unbounded,’ encapsulates the ongoing struggle throughout Mediterranean and European regions. As tensions between demarcation and legitimization of languages, language ideologies, and language identities, enter a new era, flexible citizenship now operates well within, and not only across, language communities, to unbind languages, and to create new boundaries, unlike those ever seen throughout history.

The (SCOPUS/ISI) GLOCAL COMELA 2022 invites work which addresses the shifting boundedness of Language Communities of The Mediterranean and Europe. Papers and posters should acknowledge and describe processes of language shape, change, and ideology, pertinent to social, cultural, and political histories and futures, of Mediterranean and European regions.

Presenters must register before July 13, 2022 to guarantee a place in the program.

For those who have been affiliated with the Fulbright Program, there is an opportunity to promote international understanding by sharing your Fulbright experiences with K-through-College students through Fulbright in the Classroom (FIC), and be paid for doing it (if you wish). All Fulbrighters are welcome to participate, especially recently returning students and ETAs, and visiting grantees. By participating, you can bring a personal perspective on the country you visited or share information about your home country. Please note that you must be a member of the Fulbright Association to participate in FIC or to apply for the grant.

You may participate as (1) a volunteer in your own area, and/or (2) apply for a $750 Fulbright Classroom Grant to reach out digitally to under-represented communities nationwide. The goal is to benefit especially communities who are not fully represented in the Program by inspiring future applicants.

The Graduate School at Goldsmiths, University of London, is very pleased to announce the call for applications for two fully funded Generation Delta Goldsmiths Studentships, for doctoral study. This initiative builds on and contributes to the recently launched OFS / Research England project Generation Delta: Building Routes into Professorship for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Women  that is being led by Professor Farzana Shain and that seeks to redress barriers to access and participation in doctoral study for racialised students generally and women of colour in particular. While Generation Delta Goldsmiths Studentships are open to all eligible applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds in any field of study, it is anticipated that at least one award will be made to a woman of colour who are the group most underrepresented nationally in terms of doctoral study and studentship funding.  Applicants must be new or continuing doctoral students who will not have completed more than 1 year Full-time or 2 years Part-time registration by September, 2022.

NOTE: This is one part of a larger project jointly with the Universities of Leeds, Plymouth, Reading, Sheffield and Sunderland, so they have additional studentships available.

The Education Fellows Program was established by the Ikeda Center for Peace, Learning, and Dialogue in 2007. The program honors the educational legacy of global peace builder and Center founder, Daisaku Ikeda, and aims to advance research and scholarship on the internationally growing field of Ikeda/Soka studies in education.

Up to three Ikeda Center Education Fellows will be selected by an Advisory Council of leading education scholars each application period. Fellows will be eligible for two years of funding at $10,000 per year, with the second year contingent on proof of progress.

Organizers invite you to present your research at one of the South Asia​ Communication Association (SACA)’s refereed-r​esearch session at the 105th annual conference of the ​Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), in Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, Detroit, Michigan, from Aug. 3 (Wed.) to Aug. 6 (Sat.) #AEJMC22.

SACA will host two interactive paper sessions this year. A committee of renowned scholars will review submissions. Since SACA is an institutional initiative of AEJMC, this session will be featured in the official program of the AEJMC annual conference.

SACA represents a joint effort of media and communication scholars and practitioners in South Asia and the South Asian diaspora worldwide.
