The 6th edition of the Young Peacebuilders programme in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) 2023 is designed to strengthen the skills of young women and men from the region in tackling stereotypes, prejudice and xenophobia while providing them with access to regional and global peacebuilding networks and raising visibility of their innovative and effective peace work in the field. The long-term goal is the integration of young peacebuilders in governmental peace processes / policies. This is a call to youth aged 18-25 from LAC wanting to tackle violent extremism by building inclusive societies with understanding and respect among cultural and religious communities.

Critical approaches to interculturality have gained visibility over the years, both within and outside of academia. And yet, the increasing drive across European hHigher eEducation institutions to implement internationalization strategies is often articulated around assuming traditional notions of culture, diversity, and intercultural communication. This gap between critical research in interculturality and concrete implementation of intercultural education is what drove us to ask colleagues how they put critical approaches to interculturality into practice.

Indeed, inviting critical interculturality into classrooms is a holistic process that takes time since it asks teachers to familiarize themselves with that approach as well as to depart from the limitations of traditional pedagogical frameworks.

  • partner with students to co-facilitate courses in intergroup dialogue.
  • teach courses in area(s) of specialization.
  • maintain an active research and publication program.
  • oversee the IGD and Social Change micro-credential.

Its mission is to address the changing landscape of health and medicine from social science perspectives. The Department invites applications for a Senior Lecturer/Reader in Racism and Health with a particular expertise in Qualitative Research. They particularly seek applicants who engage in empirical research relevant to understanding lived experience of the impact of racism on health, either in the UK or in another geographic context.

You should hold a PhD in any relevant social science (e.g., sociology, anthropology) or interdisciplinary field (e.g. science and technology studies; women’s, gender, sexuality studies). The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Lecturer specialising in Chinese Studies and Digital Cultures. Applicants with specialisms in literature, film, visual arts, or culture and the ability to contribute towards our Liberal Arts and/or Global Development programmes would be especially welcome.

Duties will include research and publication, convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, (co)-supervising PhD students, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. You will be able to develop new modules, and adapt existing ones, in line with their specific research strengths. The ability to teach Chinese language to undergraduate students is essential. Knowledge of main critical theories within digital media and/or knowledge of digital methods with a particular focus on the humanities is also essential. Evidence of high-quality research and publications in renowned journals is also expected.

Applications are invited from specialists with a research background in one or more of the following areas: modern and contemporary Chinese literature, film, and culture; interdisciplinary (text, film, art, stage) or trans-historical work. You will be expected to teach on the following modules during your first year of appointment:

You will join the UKRI Frontier Research Guarantee project ‘Situating International and Global Mathematics’ (SIGMA), investigating the global history of professional mathematical research in the twentieth century, working primarily on either Institutions (using methods of archival and institutional history to analyse how mathematicians organised their research and professional communities across new scales in the twentieth century) or Infrastructures (using methods of critical information studies to develop new database-supported approaches to characterising the infrastructures of long-distance and large-scale mathematical research). You will use a variety of historical research methods, coordinate events and research networks, and collaboratively develop resources and publications as part of the project team.

It is not necessary for candidates to have experience in history of mathematics, modern history, or other specific project fields and methodologies, provided you demonstrate other relevant skills and knowledge and are interested and willing to undertake further training as necessary.
