Mary Immaculate College wishes to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of Director of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) & Interculturalism on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a senior management appointment and will be made at Principal Lecturer grade.

The Director of EDI & Interculturalism will assume responsibility for the broad range of operational tasks and intra-institutional coordination necessary to deliver on the College’s Gender Equality, EDI and Interculturalism strategies. This will include Athena Swan activity, alongside other relevant aspects of gender equality work, as well as diversity, inclusion and intercultural work, and coordination of efforts to address gender-based violence and sexual harassment, within a coherent and cohesive EDI context.

United Nations University Centre for Policy Research in New York is an independent think tank within the United Nations system. The Conflict Prevention and Sustaining Peace programme is a newly formed cluster of projects that includes small, bespoke policy research for senior UN policymakers as well as large, multi-year and multi-stakeholder initiatives on a range of peace, security and prevention topics.

The Senior Policy Advisor and Head of Conflict Prevention and Sustaining Peace Programme will be responsible for developing and implementing a three-year research and resource-mobilisation plan for the Conflict Prevention and Sustaining Peace Programme, as well as supervising and mentoring project personnel. In addition, they will be responsible for generating policy reports, op-eds, and insights for the UNU-CPR websites, as well as new media offerings that disseminate the programme’s findings to new audiences.

Under the overall authority of the Director-General of UNESCO, and the direct supervision of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), the incumbent shall provide intellectual leadership and strategic vision for cultural and natural heritage at large and World Heritage in particular, in line with the Organization’s prevailing Medium-Term Strategy and Programme and Budget Document (C/5). The incumbent will develop effective programmatic and management strategies to enable the World Heritage Centre (WHC) to consolidate and further strengthen UNESCO’s leadership in the field of cultural and natural Heritage and its contribution to the UN sustainable development agenda. As such s/he is responsible for effectively managing the coordination, implementation and leading policy development and capacity building activities for the World Heritage Centre, the 1972 Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage as well as the 2011 Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape.

As Director of World Heritage, the incumbent will lead the World Heritage Centre’s programmes to support Member States and strengthen UNESCO’s leadership on the protection and promotion of cultural and natural heritage and the 1972 Convention, as an international standard setting instrument. As member of the Senior Management Team of the Culture Sector, s/he will be responsible for ensuring effective reporting to the Governing Bodies of UNESCO as per the Sector’s policy.

Aspen Institute: Community Manager for Weave (USA)

Weave’s Community Manager helps lead one of three strategic pillars: Connecting and Supporting Weavers through peer support, learning, links to resources and opportunities for collaboration. Weave connect Weavers through an online community platform, in-person and virtual gatherings, our website, newsletter and social media. Weavers receive support, training, ideas and a sense of belonging and purpose through our work.

Weave seeks an experienced relationship manager who understands the demands of setting a content strategy, overseeing an online platform such as Jive or Hoopla, inspiring high engagement and adjusting tactics to meet the changing needs of a community. This position will deputize and support superusers to engage others as the community grows. The Community Manager oversees the Community Associate, several Community Facilitators (part-time super-users) and interns, as needed.

Weave’s Program Assistant works across each of Weave’s strategic priorities to ensure the operational efficiency and relational focus of the Weave team. This role serves as the primary contact for all inquiries to Weave, offering a warm response to emails, social media, community hub posts, and website correspondence. The Program Assistant will work with Weave team members to coordinate speaking engagements, manage relationships with Weave’s supporters, and support logistics for Weave events.

The Assistant must be highly organized with an ability to monitor and manage multiple moving workstreams to accomplish project success. The Program Assistant is also a skilled communicator and will write correspondence to Weavers and Weave supporters along with content for Weave’s website and social media. UNESCO: Communications & Outreach Consultant (France)

UNESCO, in partnership with the Institute for Economics and Peace, is developing an ambitious initiative to strengthen the evidence base on intercultural dialogue as an instrument for sustainable and inclusive peacebuilding. More specifically, work is being undertaken to develop a novel dataset, measuring the enabling environment and impact of intercultural dialogue. The ultimate desired impact of the initiative is to strengthen the effectiveness of intercultural dialogue as an instrument for peacebuilding, enhancing the political and financial commitments to support it (by demonstrating its effectiveness), and offering practical insights to improve operational interventions to support it.

After ongoing work to collect and analyse the data is completed, several key outputs will be produced to present the findings, including: 1) a global report, exploring key trends and insights from the data, along with complementary analysis and reflection; 2) an online ‘barometer’, presenting the data by country and domain, along with associated analysis and methodological clarifications; 3) pilot policy dialogues to mobilise country-level operational responses in response to the insights provided by the data.

To raise awareness of these outputs, encourage engagement with the insights they provide, and build support for onward actions to mobilise them operationally, a comprehensive communications and outreach effort will be made. The Communications and Outreach Consultant will be responsible for these efforts, under the direct supervision of an Associate Programme Specialist in UNESCO’s Inclusion, Rights and Dialogue Section, and under the overall responsibility of the Chief of the Inclusion, Rights and Dialogue Section. The Consultant will work in close cooperation with the various services responsible for communications within UNESCO (including the Sector’s Executive Office and Communications Officer, and the Department for Public Information). The consultant will also liaise closely with the communications team at the Institute for Economics and Peace.
