The The East-West Center (Center) is accepting applications for a limited, two-year appointment (with possibility of extension) for a Deputy Director within the Research Program. The Deputy Director assists the Vice President and Director of Research (VPDR) with overall administrative and intellectual leadership for the Research Program, ensuring its activities and funding proposals are compatible with the Center’s mission and objectives. The position will also develop, execute, and maintain appropriate recordkeeping systems and operational procedures to ensure the program’s work scope, policy, and regulatory requirements are properly followed. Additionally, the incumbent may assist in directing program resources, project planning, and contributing to the development and evaluation of current and future research opportunities.

The East-West Center (EWC) was established in 1960 to promote better relations and understanding among the people and nations of the United States, Asia, and the Pacific. The Leadership Program is part of the larger Professional Development Program at East-West Center, which hosts capacity-building programs for participants from multiple nations, cultures, and professional sectors.

The Senior Leadership Education and Development Specialist is responsible for collaboratively managing program-specific teams to (a) plan, organize, and facilitate existing East-West Center leadership education and development programs and ensure they are relevant to the Asia Pacific, (b) develop, design, and deliver new programs and initiatives that anticipate and respond to the region’s leadership opportunities and needs, and (c) support partnership-development and fundraising efforts that help secure the Leadership Program’s regional mandate.

The East-West Center is accepting applications for a two-year, limited position as a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Coordinator. This position oversees Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) efforts throughout the East-West Center (EWC). Serving as a subject-matter expert and organizational culture champion, the incumbent will work collaboratively with Management Operations and the Human Resources Office to implement a robust, integrated DE&I strategy that spans compliance, accountability, retention, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and learning and development. The position will foster innovation in DE&I initiatives by using meaningful data to measure compliance with and aligned business strategies to DE&I principles and with regard to Title VII, Affirmative Action and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, this position will have primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with Title IX to support the organizational climate in which all members of the EWC team are protected from all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and gender-based harassment and discrimination. The DE&I Coordinator will serve as a liaison with DE&I Committee and other stakeholders to develop initiatives and processes at the Center along with providing support to programs that promote equity for under-represented minorities on the EWC campus.
