The Corporate Communication Manager, working from the ALF Headquarters in Alexandria, Egypt, will have the overall responsibility to lead and oversee the Foundation’s internal and external communication strategy, ensuring that its message is consistent and engaging; direct the communication team; supervise the communication budget and develop, implement and coordinate all the ALF communications activities and campaigns in line with the ALF Multiannual Work Programme 2022-2025.

ActionAid: Global Advocacy and Grant Coordinator, Anti Racist Public Education (S Africa, UK, Kenya or Brazil)

Global Advocacy and Grant Coordinator, Anti Racist Public Education, ActionAid, to be based in Johannesburg, London, Nairobi or Rio de Janeiro. Deadline: 3 November 2022.

This role will support the development of ambitious progress on anti-racist public education globally, working in close dialogue with a transformative programme in Brazil. You will lead global advocacy on anti-racist public education, connecting with and drawing learning from around the world to influence global policies and practices. This will include engaging with UN Special Rapporteurs, with UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report, and with processes to influence the post-2030 SDG agenda to make issues around racial equity in education a global priority. You will work in close partnership with the School of Education at the University of Bristol who are developing a database of anti-racist education initiatives and a roadmap for transformation. You will also connect closely with wider movements such as the Global Campaign for Education, Education International and the Global Student Forum.

Most importantly you will be connecting with the hugely ambitious transformative work of the SETA project in Brazil, which is working with black, indigenous and quilombo movements, together with the national education campaign, towards a shared vision of a Brazilian public education system built on the principles of racial and social justice where every young person can access their right to quality education. The team in Brazil aims to transform the public education ecosystem in Brazil and to institutionalise a racial equity approach in policy and practice, influencing wider societal attitudes, transforming data and monitoring, shifting government policies and practices, training managers and teachers and mobilising youth and students.

The Department of Communication seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position of Communication and Race beginning August 16, 2023. The City Diplomacy Manager will support the Head of Policy and Advocacy (based in New York City) to drive strategic and effective engagement of mayors in global migration and displacement policy dialogue and to maximize their impact in the global political stage. The position will support the City Diplomacy Program’s engagement with migration and displacement actors based in Geneva, Switzerland, including Member State Missions to the UN, the UN Migration Agency (IOM), and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). The City Diplomacy Manager will support the program in the lead up to the Global Refugee Forum and the GFMD (end 2023) — including contributing to the MMC’s engagement and advocacy strategies, conducting desk research, drafting presentations, and coordinating event preparation and logistics.

The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial, strategic thinker with excellent project management, research, and communications skills. They will have experience working with UN Agencies and Member States, good knowledge of global migration and refugee governance, and preferably experience engaging with city governments. They will be a proactive, experienced relationship builder who thrives in a fast-paced, value-driven environment.

 

U Vaasa: Manager of International Development (Finland)

As the International Development Manager you will work to achieve substantial growth in overseas recruitment and enhance institutional global partnerships and networks in the designated market (India and South Asia). Working closely with the Vice Rector and reporting to the Director of International Development, you lead the implementation of the University’s international student recruitment strategy as a part of the wider University strategic plan and in support of the University Schools’ objectives. In consultation with senior management and other internal stakeholders, you will set recruitment priorities and deliver appropriate international development for the dedicated market.

To be successful in this role, you will have a background in and experience of international student recruitment, and ideally excellent knowledge of India/South Asia and another major recruitment market. You have excellent collaborative skills and substantial experience of developing strong working relationships in an international setting.

In this role you should be prepared to undertake overseas visits which amount up to twelve weeks each year. The focus of this role will be India and South Asia. You may be expected to engage in other recruitment markets in line with the University’s development plans.
