Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Director of the School of Conflict Management, Peacebuilding and Development (SCMPD) in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences beginning July 2023.

Responsibilities include:

  • The Director is responsible for providing leadership for the School and Center for Conflict Management.

  • They will oversee SCMPD’s academic programs and budgets, facilitate fundraising, and manage the School’s outreach to the academic and practitioner communities.

  • The College is looking for an accomplished scholar with demonstrated administrative leadership skills and the ability to create an environment for collaboration, transparency, and shared governance.

  • The Director will have the responsibility to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity.

  • Working in collaboration with School faculty and staff and the Dean’s office, the Director will support and enhance teaching effectiveness, scholarship and research, student success, and community outreach.

National Humanities Center: Fellowships for 2023-4 (USA)

Scholars from all parts of the globe are eligible; stipends and travel expenses are provided. Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent scholarly credentials. The Center does not support the revision of doctoral dissertations.

CFP CCCC International Researchers Consortium Workshop 2022 (USA)

The International Researchers Consortium is working on a proposal for a 14th annual day-long international research workshop, at the 2022 College Conference on Composition and Communication (CCCC) conference located in the U.S. Though your research is not required to connect to conference themes, this year’s theme is diversity, equity, and linguistic justice.

Organizers invite proposals for up to 24 researcher-participant roles, focused on studies that promote insights into international research and negotiation of conditions beyond national contexts for writing in higher education around the world. By research, they mean a project with a focused research question, an identified methodology (qualitative, quantitative, ethnographic, historical, discourse analysis, corpus, etc.), and the collection of data in some form. This research can be at any stage and does not need to be final. The goal would be to provide a draft text about the research by the end of December 2021, to read the other workshop facilitators’ texts before attending the CCCC conference, and to participate in the day-long workshop by leading a discussion about your own project and participating in discussions of a subset of others’ projects.

U Penn: Postdoc in Global Communication (USA)

The Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a “CARGC Postdoctoral Fellowship.” This is a one-year position renewable for a second year based on successful performance. With a core commitment to the development of early career scholars worldwide, CARGC hosts postdoctoral, doctoral, undergraduate, and faculty fellows who collaborate in research groups, author CARGC Press publications, and organize talks, lectures, symposia, conferences, and summer institutes. CARGC postdoctoral fellows work on their own research, typically a book manuscript, and collaborate with staff and postdoctoral, doctoral and undergraduate fellows. They may design and teach one undergraduate course during their second year. They present a CARGC Colloquium and publish one CARGC Paper with CARGC Press. Fellows are provided a stipend of $50,000, a research fund of $3000, health insurance, a work space, computer and library access.

CARGC Fellows integrate primary sources and regional expertise in theoretically inflected, historically informed, comparative, translocal and transnational analyses of media, technology, geopolitics and culture. Candidates challenging normative paradigms and incorporating non-Western theories, sources and contexts, are especially welcome. Ongoing research groups focus on theory and history in global media studies, geopolitics and the popular, digital sovereignty, and radical media and culture. We recommend that applicants read our 5 year-report to familiarize themselves with our mission and priorities. This year we are particularly interested in candidates working on the Middle East and/or Latin America with Arabic and/or Spanish primary sources, though all candidates will be actively considered.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The International and Intercultural Division of the National Communication Association is ready to receive submissions relevant to cultural or intercultural contexts. Three kinds of submissions will be considered: individually submitted competitive papers (individual paper), pre-arranged thematic paper panels (paper session), and roundtable discussion panels (panel discussion) on intercultural topics. The theme for the 2011 conference in New Orleans is Voice (see official NCA Convention call) which emphasizes the National Communication Association as a community of engagement in issues affecting New Orleans and the Gulf Region. In addition to the three kinds of submissions described above, papers and panels which more fully explore and develop the conference theme as this relates to cultural issues are strongly encouraged. The deadline for submission of all materials is Wednesday, March 16th 2011 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

Please indicate whether you want your individual paper submission to be considered as a student paper selection or for the Scholar-to-Scholar sessions. Individual paper submissions should include a 100-word abstract and are limited to 25 pages. Only complete papers will be considered. Individual paper submissions should not contain identifying information (author name, university affiliation). Student papers should be clearly marked to be eligible for top student honors in the division, as well as the Donald P. Cushman Award for top student paper in NCA; to be eligible for either award, all authors must be students. Only one paper per author will be accepted, with one additional co-authored paper permitted for the division; if two sole-authored papers are submitted, the highest ranking will be accepted. The same paper may not be submitted to more than one division. Submissions should be original work, by the authors named, not previously presented at this or other conferences, and not previously published.

All materials must be submitted online through NCA Submission Central. Proposals for short courses, preconferences, seminars, or GIFTS (Great Ideas for Teaching Students) should be submitted directly to program planners for those areas. All submissions must list any A/V requirements. Check your email address listed in NCA Submission Central before or after submission as all correspondence goes there.
