This individual will support the implementation of the contractual services for the Fulbright Program, including country-specific budgets and program policies, working closely with their counterparts at Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassies overseas and IIE’s program delivery groups to enable programmatic success.

Call for experts: Measuring Irregular Migration (MIrreM), Department of Migration and Globalization, Danube University Krems, Austria. Deadline: 16 April 2023.
The University for Continuing Education Krems (Danube University Krems) is looking for expressions of interests from qualified experts interested to contribute to research conducted under the EU funded research project “Measuring irregular migration and related policies” (MIrreM). The project’s research covers 20 countries, including 12 EU countries and the United Kingdom, the US and Canada covered by project partners and five non-EU countries to be covered by experts recruited through this call.
Specifically, they are looking for up to five experts mapping policies and estimates/statistical data on irregular migration for a) two Western Balkan Country (two of the following countries shall be covered: Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo2 or Bosnia-Herzegovina), two North African countries (two of the following countries shall be covered: Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria or Morocco) and Türkiye. Experts may express an interest for one or more countries mentioned above, provided they can prove country expertise, expertise on (irregular) migration and related policies and ability to analyse statistical data and estimates on the subject. There are 3 deliverables due in August and September, at which point the experts will be paid.

Reporting to the Head of School the appointee will act as a key bridge builder between researchers, civil society organisations and policy makers, both nationally and internationally. As the incoming UNESCO Chair in Inter-Cultural and Inter-Religious Relations, you will have a distinguished research record, an international reputation, and demonstrated expertise in any disciplinary area pertaining to intercultural and inter-religious exchange and social inclusion. The work of the Chair and their team will support a proactive research program that aligns with UNESCO’s aims of promoting the values of tolerance and understanding through dialogue, in the pursuit of peace and human development. Recognition of diversity and social justice constitute the foundation upon which such goals are conceptualised, pursued and achieved.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for actively engaging in a specialist research area in line with the Faculty’s research strategy. Fostering research excellence through securing competitive research grants and other external research funding opportunities. Providing strong and committed leadership in teaching, curriculum development and research mentoring and maintain and broaden collaborative partnerships with external agencies and communities, including other UNESCO Chairs, both nationally and internationally making a significant contribution to the profession and to the discipline.

The IncluCities thematic toolkits offer practical, tested guidance and inspiration to help cities to reach European standards in key areas of migrant integration. The toolkits are designed primarily for local governments, and are particularly useful for smaller local administrations in Europe and beyond, as well as for partners such as NGOs. The content of these toolkits results from the crucial part of the IncluCities project, the benchmarking done by seven associations of local and regional governments and eight cities, with the support of the consultancy MigrationWork. These benchmarks helped to define a work programme for the mentoring schemes.
In each toolkit you will find an IncluCities thematic benchmark drawn from a Europe-wide review of cities’ experience in working on each of the four themes:
1 Gender-sensitive integration
2 Building a ‘city for all’
3 Labour market integration
4 Language learning support
The IncluCities benchmarks are qualitative standards for integration policies based on good practice and accepted standards from across Europe. They are good tools for self- assessment and goal-setting. They consist of a set of key factors that define the critical conditions for success. Each key factor is illustrated with a section why and how, and guiding questions. Where relevant, the key factors were illustrated with good practice examples from the city or association acting as a “mentor” in the project. Additional factors help to specify the context in which the city operates.
AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme for African researchers, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. Deadline: 9 June 2023.
The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is designed to allow exceptional African researchers to build international networks and focus on a project of their choice in collaboration with Oxford-based scholars. The Fellowship is open to researchers across all academic fields. Fellows will be affiliated with the University of Oxford for 12 months, including ten months of virtual engagement and a two month in-person visit to Oxford during Trinity Term. To apply for a fellowship, all applicants must have an Oxford-based researcher named as their collaborator on their application. AfOx Fellows will be asked to select which of the AfOx research themes, Healthy People, Innovation for Prosperity, Integrated Societies and Green Futures, their project most closely aligns with.
ALFinMOTION: Anna Lindh Foundation Mobility Programme, Alexandria, Egypt. Deadline: 1 April 2023.
In a post-Covid-19 recovery context, the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) is ensuring thriving Civil Society National Networks through ALFinMOTION, its interdisciplinary cross-sectoral mobility programme across the region. Capitalising on the diversity of the ALF members on both shores of the Mediterranean, it supports collaborative initiatives aiming at strengthening equal partnerships. An application must be submitted by a host organisation and may involve, depending on the mobility modality, up to two representatives from two hosted organisations from the complementary shores of the Mediterranean. The ALF network webpage can help to make connections between ALF members. The host organisation must be a legal entity and comply with the ALF communication and visibility guidelines when implementing the intercultural dialogue initiative.
ALFinMOTION intends to be a stimulus to incite intercultural dialogue actions between both shores of the Mediterranean through physical mobilities, involving diverse types of expertise and profiles. Host organisations are provided with lump sum allocations and mobilities must always imply the full proactive participation of the hosted organisations. A gender, age and geographic balance share between both shores of the Mediterranean must be observed.
The proposed mobilities under this call can take place anytime between July and December 2023, respecting visa application schedules and requirements.
Call for abstracts: Diaspora, Migration and the Media: Transnational Families and Media Practices: Methods, Ethics and Critical Approaches, ECREA International and Intercultural Communication Sections Conference, 7-9 December 2023, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. Transnational families, through their ability to cross borders, connect cultures, expand the meanings and limits of national belonging, and negotiate the cultural, linguistic and psychological challenges of migration, have become exemplary models of “mobile lives” (Elliott and Urry, 2010). Transnational families offer insights into the contradictions and complexities of interculturality (Dervin, 2017) as a lived reality permeating more and less intimate interpersonal experiences. The centrality of transnational family communication in today’s world is enhanced by everyday digital media usage, the ubiquity of portable devices and the new technical affordances of platforms and apps. Transnational families therefore help us apprehend historical transformations connected to mediated experiences of crossing borders and interculturality.
While the attention of scholars has intensified around how transnational families both shape and are shaped by the (urban) spaces they leave and enter, organizers contend that more attention needs to be paid to the methodological and ethical challenges researchers face when studying transnational families and communities. This conference provides an opportunity for scholars to discuss the assumptions underpinning their research and to share critical reflections on the ethical responsibilities that researchers have when observing transnational families and communities, including through digital platforms and their connection with mobility processes in and through cities.
They invite scholars and PhD researchers to submit abstract proposals that engage with new theoretical, methodological and ethical approaches to the study of transnational families and their communication practices in Europe and beyond. They also welcome submissions that can provide historical perspectives into the (dis)continuities characterizing transnational families and their media practices. Contributions that call into question Eurocentric forms of knowledge through decolonial narratives and frameworks are especially welcome.

The Center for Public Deliberation at Colorado State University seeks a three-year Post-Doctoral Fellow who specializes in deliberative democracy and/or civic engagement. Competitive candidates will have experience working with communities through either engagement efforts or engaged scholarship. Responsibilities will include assistance with the design, implementation, and research of civic interventions. Initial projects will focus on the development of engaged and inclusive civic curriculum for high schoolers and civic capacity building in rural communities. In addition, the fellow will be expected to assist with training students and community members in facilitation techniques and oversee graduate and undergraduate research teams. If a candidate does not have previous facilitation experience, they will be expected to undergo training provided by the CPD during their first year as a fellow.
