Eisenhower Fellowships 2025 (USA & International)

Fellowships

Eisenhower Fellowships (both for USA and international), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.  Deadline: varies by program.

Eisenhower Fellowships identify, empower and connect innovative leaders through a transformative fellowship experience and lifelong engagement in a global network of dynamic change agents committed to creating a world more peaceful, prosperous and just.

There are 3 different programs:

International Programs: Annually, between 40 and 50 mid-career leaders from all fields around the world are selected as International Eisenhower Fellows to travel to the United States for an intensive four-to-six-week fellowship. EF empowers these trailblazers, typically ages between 32 and 45, to tackle bigger challenges as they better the world and their own societies.

USA Programs: The USA Program sends 10-12 outstanding mid-career American leaders abroad each year for a similar program of meetings with leaders and experts in their respective fields in a relevant region of the world. These ascendant American leaders from all fields travel to one or two nations for four- or five-week programs with both in-person and virtual components. Fellows will develop a project, foster professional relationships and launch dynamic, concrete collaborations with their international counterparts, their cohort and the prestigious EF network of more than 1,600 active Fellows on six continents.

Global Scholars: The Eisenhower Global Scholars Program sends four American university graduates abroad annually for an academic year of postgraduate studies at two prestigious European universities, the University of Oxford, UK, and IE University in Madrid, Spain, leading to a master’s degree and immersion in the EF global network of Fellows.

US Department of State: Global Teaching Projects (USA)

“JobGlobal Teaching Projects, English Language Fellow Program, 2025-26, US Department of State (serving internationally). Deadline: 24 Febuary 2025.

The English Language Fellow Program sends experienced U.S. educators who have extensive experience in working with English Language Learners on paid in-country teaching assignments at universities and other academic institutions around the world. Fellow projects focus on training pre-service teachers, teaching university students or adult professionals, and building English language capacity in local communities. Fellows are citizen ambassadors who promote mutual understanding through English language learning and cultural exchange. The English Language Fellow Program provides professionals with a platform to build skills that can greatly enhance their careers.

CID Poster 5: Communication as Culture Definition Translated into German

CID PostersThis poster was designed by Linda J. de Wit, and published previously; it now has been translated into German. The painting is Winter Landscape with Ice Skaters, by Dutch painter Hendrick Avercamp, painted around 1608. It is on display in the Dutch national museum Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which has made many of its paintings available online in high resolution and copyright free. The painting illustrates the quote not only because it shows social interaction, but also because ice skating is considered a typical example of Dutch culture (and recently has officially been named part of Dutch cultural heritage). The silhouettes are designs from vecteezy.com. The quote comes from the following book:

The German translation was provided by Maria Faust, and the graphic design work necessary to revise was by Yan Qiu. Here then is CID Poster 5: Kommunikation als Kulturdefinition.

The Department of International Relations at Bilkent University invites applications for multiple tenure-track assistant professor positions, to begin in September 2025. The department welcomes applications from scholars working in any area within the field of international relations, broadly defined. Candidates who have a regional expertise and whose specialization would complement the existing strengths of the department are particularly encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to produce publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of International Relations at Bilkent University. Bath Spa U: PHD Studentship in Developing Art-Based Interventions to Facilitate a Cross-cultural Dialogue on Forced Migration among Youth (UK)

PhD Studentship in Developing art-based interventions to facilitate a cross-cultural dialogue on forced migration among youth, Bath Spa University, Bath, UK. Deadline: 20 January 2025.

This doctoral project explores the power of Art-Based Interventions (ABI) to facilitate a cross-cultural dialogue on forced migration among secondary school youth from refugee and non-refugee backgrounds.

This project involves a collaboration between the supervisory team, secondary schools in Bath, refugee youth, and the Holburne Museum. The Holburne will provide input in designing and hosting the ABI workshops, offer pop-up exhibitions based on outputs, and support youth to present their work to the public. The project will be co-designed by the doctoral student and the supervisory team.

Research question: How can participatory art-based interventions facilitate cross-cultural awareness and empathy on the effects of forced migration amongst youth?

Methods: A Participatory Research Approach will be adopted to allow young people to play a key role in the research via a cycle of action – reflection. The young people will be involved in choosing and developing the ABI and disseminating the research outputs via exhibits and community engagement events.

The doctoral student will be mentored in developing and leading the ABI by drawing on art-based methodologies such as storytelling, photovoice, and handling object boxes.

This opportunity is open to masters students and above, on the assumption that some familiarity with academic conventions generally, and discussion of intercultural dialogue specifically, are useful.

Osnabrück U: Postdoc in Futures of Migration (Germany)

Postdoc in Futures of Migration, Institute of Migration Research and Intercultural Studies, Osnabrück University, Germany. Deadline: 7 January 2025.

As part of the research area ‘Futures of Migration’ (FuturMig) funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, Osnabrück University is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher.

The Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) at Osnabrück University, the Center for Global Migration Research (CeMig) at the Georg August University Göttingen, the Center for Educational Integration (ZBI) at the University of Hildesheim, the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media, Georg Eckert Institute (GEI), Brunswig, and the Friedland Museum are cooperating in the Lower Saxony research area ‘FuturMig’ (2025–2029).

‘FuturMig’ deals with ideas and strategies for shaping the future of societies that are shaped by migration and diversity in political, media, and societal debates, fields of practice and migration research. ‘FuturMig’ is reviewing the academic state of the art, is planning the establishment of an international guest professorship and the development of a follow-up collaborative research initiative. ‘FuturMig’ focuses in particular on educational contexts – early childhood institutions, schools, universities, civil society initiatives, museums and memorials.
