University of Warwick is looking for two experienced and creative Senior Teaching Fellows (Assistant Professor – Teaching) who will contribute to the department’s teaching provision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and the support activities associated with these.

  1. Assistant Professor of TESOL:

You will be an applied linguist with a strong academic and professional background in TESOL who is able to deliver master’s modules on language testing and assessment and contribute to teaching in one or more of the following areas: discourse analysis, curriculum and materials development, online pedagogies. You will have a PhD in a relevant field or be very close to completion and you will have experience of teaching at university level.

2. Assistant Professor of Intercultural Communication

You will be an academic with a professional background in intercultural communication who is able to deliver master’s modules on quantitative research methodology and contribute to teaching and master’s research supervision in two or more of the following areas: intercultural competence assessment, cross-cultural psychology, cross-cultural marketing, international development. You will have a PhD in a relevant field or be very close to completion and you will have experience of teaching at university level.

Your research may focus on any aspect of Intercultural Communication. Only applicants with high quality publications will be considered. A successful record of grant capture and of PhD supervision would be highly advantageous. Such transformation has posed unprecedented challenges to conflict management and peacebuilding, multiplying risks of instability and war, but also the spaces for the construction of collective meanings and the voices shaping them.

As the international community struggles to find consensus and challenges to peace and security risks multiply, the aim of this event is to explore the relationship between communication broadly conceived, and the challenges and possibilities for peace. The Alwaleed Centre for the Study of Islam in the Contemporary World at the University of Edinburgh is looking for an early career fellow to contribute to its growing research, teaching and outreach program on contemporary Muslim societies in a globalized world. The post-holder will conduct research into the contemporary social/political/religious dynamics of a key region, or regions, of the Muslim world. Priority will be given to applicants whose research focuses on regions not currently well covered by the Centre’s team (e.g. Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Central Asia, East Asia, The Americas) or on supra-national processes. Applications from candidates whose work engages with broader transnational, international or global contexts would be particularly welcomed, as the post-holder will work with the Centre’s director to develop a research cluster on the globalized Muslim world. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to the Alwaleed Centre’s teaching and outreach activities.
