1.Assistant Professor of Communication and Race

The Department of Communication seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position of Communication and Race beginning August 16, 2023. They welcome applications from candidates who can contribute to the Department’s curricular domains: interpersonal communication, organizational communication, rhetoric, media studies, public relations, media production, and science, health, environment, and risk communication. The successful candidate will teach COM 417, Communication and Race, and they especially welcome applicants from candidates whose teaching and research interests may include (but are not limited to) the following: black digital humanities, environmental humanities, BIPOC digital media and culture (including PR and media production), social movements and counterpublics, international/intercultural communication, and/or anti-colonial, decolonial and postcolonial theories and methods.

This Assistant Director of Advising and DEI is an integral part of the Study Abroad Office leadership team and is vital to ensuring that study abroad is accessible and inclusive for the entire NC State student population. This role is responsible for directing student advising, supervising the advising team, leading diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic initiatives, and strategic management of exchange, direct enroll programs, and summer partner programs.

Education Program Coordinator

The Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (MD-ICCCR) at Teachers College is seeking to hire a qualified candidate with a strong interest in growing the center’s innovative ‘Conflict Intelligence @ Columbia University’ program as a part-time position. This position will coordinate all of the MD-ICCCR educational offerings, including the Graduate Certificate program, internships, core and elective courses. The position will assume a coordination role, in partnership with the Curriculum Development Specialist, for ongoing curriculum reviews and revisions, to offer cutting-edge, scientifically-based course content and current pedagogy. The educational offerings are focused on the dynamics of peace, conflict, social change, and social justice.

International Program Coordinator

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) at Teachers College, Columbia University (TC) is seeking an International Program Coordinator to provide administrative and operational support for global programs and partnerships. Reporting to the Director of Global Engagement, the International Program Coordinator will be responsible for the logistical planning and operations of OGE. The incumbent will support the Director and the International Projects and Partnerships Manager with administrative duties required to carry out program activities and special projects, including managing budgets and troubleshooting.

International Student Advisor

The International Student Adviser acts as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) to deliver immigration services to the international student community at Teachers College (TC). Specifically, the incumbent establishes contacts with other university departments, personnel, outside agencies and individuals as required; and interprets university policies governing the area of responsibility. The incumbent will also advise international students by providing guidance regarding federal immigration regulations and procedures, personal/academic/cultural matters, and Teachers College resources to support the successful completion of their degree objectives. The International student Advisor will also assist with the development and implementation of services and programming for international students and the wider TC community. Note: U.S. government regulations require that Designated School Officials and Alternate Responsible Officers be U.S. citizens or legal Permanent Residents.

Open U: Indigenous Religious Studies (UK)

The Department of International Relations & Regional Studies in the College of Social Sciences at KIMEP University,  invites applications for two faculty positions (Assistant/Associate/ Full Professor rank) in the International Relations area. KIMEP University offers its faculty members one-year contracts, renewable by mutual agreement.

Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, field liaison and service. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs and teaches academic and theoretic courses in International Relations, the Politics of Central and East Asia, Diplomatic History, Methodology, etc. Expertise is desired in at least two of the following areas of International Relations: Chinese Domestic and Geo-Politics, Chinese Economic Policy, The Economy and Geo-Politics of East Asia, Central Asia, Political Economy and Security Studies. Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience is welcome. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in International Relations, Political Science, Regional Studies or another relevant field from an internationally-recognized, accredited university. Applicants should be able to teach in English.

 

King’s College London: International & Comparative Education (UK)

King’s College London is seeking to recruit a social science scholar with interests in the global dimensions of education to contribute to teaching and programme administration on an MA Education suite of programmes and other programmes as required. They will also undertake doctoral supervision and conduct high quality research. The successful candidate will have expertise in, or that can be applied to, international and comparative education, education and international development, education in a global context and/or intercultural education. The post holder will contribute to Masters, PhD programmes and other programmes in the Centres and to research knowledge exchange and consultancy activities in the Centres. You will play a significant role in planning and development of the International Centre for Intercultural Studies. The post holder will contribute to the advancement of scholarship in the fields of Intercultural Communication and Applied Linguistics, through publications and other research activities. You will take a part in academic policy and planning at programme, department, and institutional levels. You will teach specialist modules on the MA Intercultural Communication and MA Applied Linguistics in areas of language and intercultural communication, and language and identity.

You will have PhD in Intercultural Communication, Applied Linguistics, or closely relevant subject areas, and have a sound knowledge of key concepts, debates and challenges in Intercultural Communication and Applied Linguistics. The appointed person will teach in the MA programme in Intercultural Communication. You must have a PhD (awarded) in a relevant field and demonstrable teaching experience in Intercultural Communication at university level as well as in curriculum/programme development.

You must be able to deliver courses that successfully cover or combine the study of several of the following:

  • Intercultural communication in the context of crisis communication, diplomacy, international development, international migration
  • Intercultural communication in international media production and consumption
  • Intercultural communication in business or institutional contexts
  • Intercultural communication in transnational popular culture

  • Postcolonial intercultural communication

Your research may focus on any aspect of Intercultural Communication. Only applicants with high quality publications will be considered. A successful record of grant capture and of PhD supervision would be highly advantageous. Experience with virtual learning environments and in developing online teaching materials is essential. Expertise in translation studies and/or foreign language proficiency would be beneficial. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to empathise with students.

 

Newcastle U: Intercultural Communication (UK)

The School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences (ECLS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Intercultural Communication. The successful applicant will be part of a diverse and collegiate team of academics, researchers and professional support staff delivering high quality teaching and research in the Applied Linguistics & Communication (ALC) subject area. You will have a strong background in Intercultural Communication and will have expertise in international workplaces, virtual exchange, migration and mobility, or minoritised communities.

You will carry out high quality research in the area of Intercultural Communication, contributing to the profile and research culture of the ALC subject area, the School of ECLS, and the relevant research centres and institutes across the University.

You will make a significant contribution to teaching, personal tutoring, and supervision within the ALC subject area, particularly on the suite of MA Cross-Cultural Communication programmes, and also at undergraduate level. Preferably, you will have experience of teaching Sociolinguistics and/or Research Methods at postgraduate level. You will, where appropriate, make a contribution to academic administration within the School.
