U York: Lecturers in Psychology (UK)

The University of York wishes to appoint two Lecturers (on “Academic, Research and Teaching” contracts). They are looking for outstanding candidates who will conduct cutting edge psychological research that complements and extends key strategic growth areas within the Department. These areas include cognitive, affective and social neuroscience, social psychology and intergroup relations, cross-cultural psychology, and media psychology. They are also keen to hear from individuals whose research has clear potential for (or has already demonstrated) societal impact. The candidate must also be able to contribute to teaching in their BPS-accredited BSc and MSci Psychology programmes and/or MSc programmes, including project supervision in popular areas such as social psychology, mental health and cognitive neuroscience.

UCL: Digital Intercultural Communication (UK)

The post-holder will contribute to Masters, PhD and other programmes and research, knowledge exchange and consultancy activities in the International Centre for Intercultural Studies and in the Department of Culture, Communication and Media at University College London. Alongside the demonstration of a broad theoretical and practical understanding of intercultural communication, the post-holder will have knowledge and expertise in Digital Intercultural Communication. We are seeking a candidate who not only engages critically with issues of culture and communication in digital contexts but also demonstrates a robust understanding of digital technologies, including current and emerging tools, platforms and digital environments. The candidate will take a lead in developing this aspect of the MA Intercultural Communication. U Jyväskylä: Intercultural Communication (Finland)

The University Teacher’s position is allocated to the discipline of Intercultural Communication in the Department of Language and Communication Studies. The department provides high quality, research-based academic education in language and communication studies.

The University Teacher will be a part of a team responsible for research and education in the field of Intercultural Communication. The teaching takes place in the international MA degree programme Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication and the study module in Intercultural Communication. The contents of the teaching modules deal for example with themes related to critical approaches to diversity in organizational communication, dynamics of migration, technology-mediated communication across contexts, issues related to intergroup communication, discourses of power, and both qualitative and quantitative methodology.

University Teachers are required to have a relevant master’s degree. The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Excellent proficiency in English is required in this position.

In addition, the following skills and achievements are regarded as merits: (i) experience in teaching, (ii) pedagogical training, (iii) development of teaching materials, (iv) other merits in teaching, (v) other skills and achievements relevant to the task of the University Teacher, and (vi) collaboration possibilities in teaching within the broader structure of the department. SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) invites applications for a permanent Lecturer in International Relations starting in Autumn 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. They are looking for a scholar with a promising publication record and an active research agenda, as well as demonstrated excellence in innovative forms of teaching including undergraduate, postgraduate, online, and professional training. Within the discipline of Politics and International Relations, they seek expertise in one or more of the following
areas: international security, diplomatic studies, geopolitics, and the foreign policy of great powers with reference to the Global South (broadly defined). Royal Roads U: Canada Research Chair in Changemaking (Canada)

As a Tier 2 CRC at Royal Roads, you will develop an exemplary scholarly and creative presence, complement, and enrich research and scholarship among faculty and graduate students, and participate in local and international research networks. While based in one faculty, you will collaborate with other units within RRU as appropriate.

As the Tier 2 CRC in Changemaking, you will have established relationships in both academic and non-academic communities and a portfolio demonstrating the application of applied and problem-based research methods. You will also have demonstrated success (or a high degree of promise) in obtaining research funding from diverse sources, leading collaborative research initiatives, establishing and maintaining community relationships, supervising student research, and mobilizing research. Royal Roads considers a broad range of contributions to research, training and mentoring as part of the merit review process, with a focus on the quality and impact of these contributions.

The successful applicant will be nominated by the University for a Tier 2 CRC and, upon approval by the CRC Secretariat, will be offered an initial five-year continuing-track appointment with the possibility of conversion into a continuing appointment, subject to performance and program needs. The Tier 2 Chairs include the possibility of a renewal for an additional five years.

This position is not currently linked to a particular school within the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies and is open to candidates from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds. The determination of school will be based on the successful candidate’s area of focus. The nominee’s research area, however, must be primarily in the social sciences and humanities (i.e., aligned with the legislated mandate of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada).

Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars. Candidates must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination. Applicants who are more than 10 years from their highest degree may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process.
