John Cabot University invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in International Relations and/or International Law. The appointment is for one year, beginning August 2024, and with possibility of renewal. They seek candidates with a Ph.D. in International Relations or International Law, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and commitment to academic service. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with an interdisciplinary expertise in the two above-mentioned areas. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Cybersecurity, Environmental Politics, Transatlantic Relations and US Politics, Food Security and International Development.

The ideal candidate should have familiarity and experience with the American liberal arts educational tradition, and be prepared to teach introductory courses (e.g., World Politics, International Organizations, International Law) as well as courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction, and to have permission to work in the EU.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one or more departments or schools in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs (GCUA) in the area Ethnic and Equity Studies with an emphasis in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI-B). The individual will facilitate college-level DEI-B initiatives. The U.S. News & World (2021) Report on Campus Ethnic Diversity ranks UNLV the second most diverse university for undergraduate students in the nation. Some of these initiatives include a college focus on individual and community resilience, communication engagement initiatives related to overcoming difference, diversity and dialogue, and facilitating study abroad/study away opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Institutional and Research External Expert for its Mediterranean Youth in Action (MYA) Programme. The MYA Institutional and Research External Expert will work closely with the ALF Executive Director and the MYA Programme Leader and advise them on new formulas to foster civil society cooperation and engage civil society entities, in line with the MYA’s objectives as well as analysing the Euro-Mediterranean and National policy frameworks related to youth, gender and intercultural dialogue and provide guidance to embed them into the MYA and ALF actions.

The Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) is announcing an exciting opportunity for a new Policy and Communications Associate position that will be a key cross-cutting employee supporting AfP’s technical capacities and new Fieldbuilding Strategy. This position will oversee and coordinate the creation of communications content across AfP’s three technical capacities in (1) Partnerships & Convening, (2) Learning & Evidence, and (3) Policy & Advocacy. This position will also spearhead the design of reports, publications, media engagement, public and private events, social media, graphics, the AfP website, and others. German Institute for Global and Area Studies: Research Fellow – Religion for Peace (Germany)

Research Fellow: Religion for Peace: Investigating Messengers and Messages for Interreligious Peace, German Institute for Global and Area Studies, Hamburg, Germany. Deadline: 21 April 2024.

The German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA)/Leibniz-Institut für Globale und Regionale Studien is an independent Social Science research institute based in Hamburg. It analyses political, social, and economic developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and links this knowledge to questions of global significance. It combines region-specific analysis with innovative comparative research on accountability and participation, peace and security, globalisation and development, and global order and foreign policies. The GIGA seeks to appoint a Research Fellow. It is a 75% position, with a contract of 2 years, preferably starting on 15 August 2024.

The successful candidate will work in the project Religion for Peace: Investigating Messengers and Messages for Interreligious Peace, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Religious leaders are active for (interreligious) peace in many contexts and, for example, use their rhetoric to advocate for peace. The effectiveness of religious leaders’ rhetoric depends on the interplay of religious leaders being the messengers and the contents of their words—the message itself. This project (re)tests the (comparative) effectiveness of religious leaders as peace messengers and effective content of peace messages. The project also examines effects of an intervention designed and conducted with a Togolese civil society organization that aims to promote interreligious cooperation.

NOTE: The GIGA strongly encourages concurrent work on a doctoral degree. The Research Fellow would become a member of the GIGA Doctoral Programme.
