KAICIID Fellows Programme 2024 (Portugal)

The KAICIID International Fellows Programme is an ongoing capacity and professional development Programme that brings together religious leaders, educators, and interreligious dialogue practitioners from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and other religious backgrounds from around the world. The Programme offers training (in-person and online) in dialogue facilitation, intercultural communication and promoting social cohesion to people who advance and integrate their knowledge, skill, and experience within their respective communities. Since 2015, more than 500 individuals from more than 85 countries have participated in the Programme.

In 2024, an International and Latin American Cohorts will be launched. The Latin American cohort will be implemented in partnership with Religions for Peace – Latin America and the Caribbean.

The training modules equip the Fellows with an in-depth understanding of subjects such as Interreligious Dialogue, Conflict Management and Peacebuilding, Gender and IRD, Climate crises and IRD, Combating Hate Speech, and Common citizenship in addition to valuable skills like Project design, Fundraising and Monitoring and Evaluation. As part of their dialogue training, Fellows receive humble funding to implement grassroots interreligious dialogue projects in their own communities. During the training, Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in and organise real-time dialogue sessions, academic lectures, field visits to religious and cultural sites, and thematic conferences.

Sacramento State U: Hellenic Research Fellowships (USA)

Thanks to generous ongoing funding from the Elios Charitable Foundation, Tsakopoulos Hellenic Foundation, and the Tarbell Family Foundation, the University Library is pleased to offer the continuation of the Hellenic Research Fellowship Program (HRFP) for an 11th year. The Program supports the use of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection by fellows for scholarly research in Hellenic studies while in residence in Sacramento, CA. The HRFP provides a limited number of fellowships ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 in the form of reimbursement to help offset transportation and living expenses incurred in connection with the awards.

The Program is open to external researchers anywhere in the world at the graduate through senior scholar levels (including independent scholars) working in fields encompassed by the Collection’s strengths who reside outside a 75-mile radius of Sacramento. The term of fellowships can vary between two weeks and three months, depending on the nature of the research, and for the current cycle will be tenable from September 1, 2023-August 31, 2024.

French Institutes for Advanced Study: Fellowships 2024-25 (France)

The French Institutes for Advanced Study Fellowship Programme offers 10-month fellowships in the seven Institutes of Aix-Marseille, Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours), Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Paris and Rennes. It welcomes applications from high-level international scholars to develop their innovative research projects in France. For the 2024-2025 academic year, FIAS offers 40 fellowship positions: 4 in Aix-Marseille, 3 in Loire Valley (Orléans-Tours), 10 in Lyon, 3 in Montpellier, 4 in Nantes, 13 in Paris and 3 in Rennes.

The call is open to all disciplines in the social sciences and the humanities (SSH) and all research fields. Research projects in other sciences and in arts that propose a strong interaction and dialogue with the SSH are also eligible. Some host IAS have scientific priorities that need to be taken into full consideration before applying.

The FIAS fellows will be free to organize their research while benefiting from the support and conducive scientific environment offered by the IAS characterised by a multidisciplinary cohort of fellows and by close relation to the local research centres and laboratories.

CIDOB: Programa Talent Global 2023 (Spain)

The Banco Sabadell Foundation and CIDOB (Barcelona Center for International Affairs) launch the third edition of the Programa Talent Global with the aim of promoting quality research by young researchers, through a paid research stay and two awards for applied research. The “Junior Visiting Fellowship” seeks a young researcher of up to 30 years old who has demonstrated their research capacities to join CIDOB’s research team for a six-month paid research stay.

Toronto Metropolitan U: Civil Society & Public Administration Fellowship (Canada)

CERC Civil Society & Public Administration Fellowship, CERC in Migration and Integration, Toronto Metropolitan University, Toronto, Canada. Deadline: 1 May 2023.

The CERC Civil Society & Public Administration Fellowship program welcomes practitioners from civil society organizations or government bodies outside of Canada who have international experience working in the field of migration or immigrant integration and inclusion to apply to participate in a one-month residency at Toronto Metropolitan University. The residency takes place in Toronto and must occur between October 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024 for a consecutive period of 20 to 35 days.

The program promotes international collaboration and learning exchange between practitioners and researchers. It provides a unique professional development opportunity for practitioners to share and build on their field experience, connect to an expert team of Canadian and international researchers and local stakeholders, or conduct their own field research. The experience will help practitioners develop and bring back to their organizations innovative ideas for applied research and evidence-based good practices. At the same time, practitioners would be encouraged to contribute their perspectives to the work of the CERC Migration team.

AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme (UK)

The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme is designed to allow exceptional African researchers to build international networks and focus on a project of their choice in collaboration with Oxford-based scholars. The Fellowship is open to researchers across all academic fields. Fellows will be affiliated with the University of Oxford for 12 months, including ten months of virtual engagement and a two month in-person visit to Oxford during Trinity Term. To apply for a fellowship, all applicants must have an Oxford-based researcher named as their collaborator on their application. AfOx Fellows will be asked to select which of the AfOx research themes, Healthy People, Innovation for Prosperity, Integrated Societies and Green Futures, their project most closely aligns with.

Marjorie Boulton Fellowships (USA)

The Esperantic Studies Foundation (ESF) announces its 2023 competition for research fellowships in all fields of the humanities and social sciences, particularly as they relate to interlinguistics, linguistic justice, intercultural communication, Esperanto, and related phenomena. Interdisciplinary work is welcome, and primary disciplines might include, but are not limited to, linguistics, sociology, history, anthropology, communication, or media studies. Open to candidates worldwide, with a preference for candidates in North America and the global south, the fellowships may be held concurrently with other awards or fellowships and are non-renewable. These fellowships honor the legacy of the late Marjorie Boulton, a prolific author of plays, poems, and prose in Esperanto. ESF, a non-profit organization that works for linguistic justice on a global scale, values inclusion and diversity. ESF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, language, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation or gender expression.

Awards of $10,000 USD may be given in each of two categories: Doctoral and Post-doctoral research. See below for eligibility requirements.

Category 1. Doctoral Research for students engaged in or about to begin their doctoral dissertations. Eligibility: Applicants must be admitted to candidacy for a research doctoral degree at an accredited university, in good standing in their programs, and considering or embarked on an original research project that will make a significant contribution to the field.

Category 2. Post-doctoral Research for scholars who have recently completed their dissertations, to support related research and publication. Eligibility: Applicants must be no more than five years beyond receiving the Ph.D and propose an original, significant research project; it can be either an extension of the dissertation or a new program of research.

ACLS: Leading Edge Fellowships (USA)

The American Council of Learned Societies is pleased to announce the fifth competition of the Leading Edge Fellowship program, which demonstrates the potential of humanistic knowledge and methods to solve problems, build capacity, and advance justice and equity in society. Leading Edge Fellowships place recent humanities PhDs with nonprofit organizations promoting social justice in their communities. Fellows take on substantive roles that draw on the skills and capacities honed in the course of earning the humanities PhD, including advanced communication, research, project management, and creative problem solving. This initiative is made possible through the support of the Mellon Foundation.

The fellowships are designed to foster mutually beneficial partnerships between fellows and their hosting organizations. Each applicant may apply for up to two of the available Leading Edge Fellowship opportunities. Eligible organizations include:

U Cambridge: Visiting Bye-Fellowship for Scholars from the Global South (UK)

Gonville & Caius College, University of Cambridge, invites applications for its Visiting Fellowship designed to support research in any field of study from scholars with current academic appointments or their equivalent in the Global South (defined for present purposes as countries on the current OECD ‘DAC’ list.

The Visiting Bye-Fellowship is a limited-term appointment for the purpose of carrying out some specific research project, free of other commitments. The purposes are to permit the scholar to execute this project, to enable the scholar to engage in intellectual exchange with Cambridge scholars and to form connections that might be of longer-term benefit to their own careers and to their own institutions, and to enrich the life of the College and university by widening our own networks and perspectives.

This one-year position is open to established researchers, including those on leave or on secondment from university posts. The successful candidate will have done a minimum of three years of advanced research (postdoctoral or equivalent) and will normally have produced significant published work. The successful candidate is expected to reside in Cambridge, but research trips may be permitted.

Eisenhower Fellowships (USA & International)

Eisenhower Fellowships identifies, empowers and connects innovative leaders through a transformative fellowship experience and lifelong engagement in a global network of dynamic change agents committed to creating a world more peaceful, prosperous and just.

There are 3 different programs:

International Programs: Annually, between 40 and 50 mid-career leaders from all fields around the world are selected as International Eisenhower Fellows to travel to the United States for an intensive four-to-six-week fellowship. EF empowers these trailblazers, typically ages between 32 and 45, to tackle bigger challenges as they better the world and their own societies.

USA Programs: The USA Program sends 10-12 outstanding mid-career American leaders abroad each year for a similar program of meetings with leaders and experts in their respective fields in a relevant region of the world. These ascendant American leaders from all fields travel to one or two nations for four- or five-week programs with both in-person and virtual components. Fellows will develop a project, foster professional relationships and launch dynamic, concrete collaborations with their international counterparts, their cohort and the prestigious EF network of more than 1,600 active Fellows on six continents.

Global Scholars: The Eisenhower Global Scholars Program sends four American university graduates abroad annually for an academic year of postgraduate studies at two prestigious European universities, the University of Oxford, UK, and IE University in Madrid, Spain, leading to a master’s degree and immersion in the EF global network of Fellows.
