Established in 1991, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) is India’s premier postgraduate institute in Communications Management dedicated to meeting the communication needs of the industry, government and community.  MICA offers  a two-year program  leading to  a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Communication), a one-year certificate program in Crafting Creative Communication, a three-year doctoral program in communication, and a number on online programs.

MICA invites applications for a tenure-line, open-rank faculty position in one or more of the following areas:

The desired qualification for the faculty positions is a Ph.D. in communication, organizational behaviour, psychology or a related field. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of strong scholarship, successful teaching, and a deep commitment to institute and community service. ABDs may be considered, but those hired ABD must earn their doctoral degree within six months of being hired.

Business Communication: The Center for Management Communication in the Marshall School of Business invites applications for a full-time Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of Clinical Management Communication (non-tenure-track, rank dependent on experience and qualifications) beginning in academic year 2013-14.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in communication strategy, organizational and leadership communication, and advanced writing for business. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in the areas of new media, business ethics, workplace diversity, and international/cross-cultural communication. Service responsibilities to the department, school, and university are also required.

Strong applicants will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, extensive hands-on business experience in today’s global marketplace, a command of classroom technology and new media, and a Ph.D. in a related field.

The Center for Management Communication is the oldest and largest unit of its kind in the U.S., with 24 full-time faculty members from a range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds. U Waikato doctoral fellowships

The Department of Management Communication at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand, is seeking two Doctoral Assistants to provide teaching assistance, tutoring, marking, and other teaching support.  These positions serve to support outstanding students as they pursue their PhD and to support the department in continuing its record of teaching and research excellence. Doctoral Assistants dedicate 20 hours of the week to supporting the department’s teaching and/or research goals, and the rest of the time to their own doctoral studies.

Salary will be NZ$49,793 per year, pro rata.  Doctoral Assistants will also receive a tuition waiver.  Applicants must first apply to enrol in the PhD programme at the University of Waikato. Applications to the Ph.D. programme can be made at any time of the academic year. The positions are fixed term for four years at 20 hours a week and will remain open until filled. Excellent applicants who do not receive a doctoral assistantship will also be considered for a tuition waiver.

The essential attributes for this position are to be enrolled as a PhD student in the Department of Management Communication prior to commencing employment. Candidates must demonstrate excellent aptitude for PhD study and the competencies required to provide teaching and research support.

Shiv Ganesh Profile

ProfilesShiv Ganesh (PhD, Purdue University, 2000), is  a professor in the Department of Communication Studies in the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas, Austin.

Shiv Ganesh

Shiv studies communication and collective organizing in the context of globalization and digital technologies. His work spans critical-institutional and poststructural approaches to communication, and is currently comprised of two strands; studies of technological transformations in collective action; and studies of dialogue, conflict and social change. His research is largely qualitative but has incorporated quantitative elements, and he has done fieldwork in a number of countries, including India, Aoteaora New Zealand, the United States, and Sweden.

Current projects include a study of advocacy and voice amongst indigenous people displaced by the creation of environmental reserves in India, as well as a large-scale survey of digital interaction and engagement dynamics amongst global networks of activists. His research has appeared in a number of journals including Communication MonographsCommunication TheoryHuman Relations, International Journal of Communication, Journal of Applied Communication ResearchManagement Communication QuarterlyMedia, Culture & Society, andOrganization Studies. 

Ganesh is a former editor-in-chief of the National Communication Association’s Journal of International and Intercultural Communication, and is on the editorial board of several other journals, including Communication TheoryInformation, Communication & SocietyJournal of CommunicationJournal of Applied Communication Research, Management Communication QuarterlyOrganization, and Women’s Studies in Communication. His research has won several awards from both the International Communication Association and the National Communication Association. Formerly, Ganesh served as Professor of Communication and Head of the School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing at Massey University in New Zealand.
