The Department of Political Science at the National University of Singapore invites application for one full-time tenure-track or tenured position in International Relations at the rank of full Professor or Associate Professor. They welcome applications from candidates working in all areas of the subfield, including but not limited to non-traditional security, human security, and gender and international relations. They especially encourage applications from candidates with research experience relating to Asia and whose backgrounds are traditionally underrepresented in the discipline. Successful candidates are expected to teach graduate and undergraduate classes and take a leading role in developing new departmental initiatives.

U Idaho: Postdoc in International Relations (USA)

The Martin Institute and Program in International Studies, and the Idaho Society of Fellows, are now accepting applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in International Relations to begin July 1, 2024. Fellows will pursue their own research and teach one course per semester. The unit is particularly interested in recruiting candidates whose work complements existing unit initiatives in area studies, international organizations, conflict/peace, and/or human rights.

John Cabot University invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in International Relations and/or International Law. The appointment is for one year, beginning August 2024, and with possibility of renewal. They seek candidates with a Ph.D. in International Relations or International Law, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and commitment to academic service. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with an interdisciplinary expertise in the two above-mentioned areas. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Cybersecurity, Environmental Politics, Transatlantic Relations and US Politics, Food Security and International Development.

The ideal candidate should have familiarity and experience with the American liberal arts educational tradition, and be prepared to teach introductory courses (e.g., World Politics, International Organizations, International Law) as well as courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction, and to have permission to work in the EU.

The School of Government and International Affairs at Durham University seeks to appoint a talented individual to the role of Associate Professor to work on an exciting initiative that seeks to establish a new Responsible Space Innovation Centre. This is an inter-disciplinary centre bringing together experts in space technology, business and governance from across Durham University. This post will be based within the School of Government and International Affairs. They welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests within the broad field of Politics and International Relations and who exhibit a particular interest in emerging technologies, including space-based technologies. They are particularly eager to hear from applicants with a focus on research and education rooted in political theory; ethics; political economy; political geography; environmental politics; security; international relations; diplomacy; and/or arms control. For the first four years, the post holder will mainly contribute to research and grant capture to support the development of the new research centre.

The Department of Politics and International Relations in association with Exeter College are recruiting to the post of Associate Professor of International Relations to start from 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications are welcome from both early career and established scholars in any sub-field of international relations. However, the Department has particular needs at present in historical international relations, the international relations of the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Russia and the Post-Soviet space, international law, and the international politics of the environment.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out advanced research in the field and to develop courses and provide teaching and supervision to undergraduate and graduate students; they will be expected to provide and organize undergraduate teaching for one or more of the Department’s undergraduate papers in International Relations; to contribute to the core paper of the MPhil in International Relations; to supervise graduate students in the Department’s MPhil and DPhil programmes in International Relations; to deliver undergraduate tutorial or small-group teaching in Exeter College; and to participate in academic administration, examining and assessment, the admission of students to the Department and College, and in the governance of the Department and the College.

The post will be held in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at Exeter College.

The Department of War Studies seeks to appoint a Reader in International Relations in order to contribute to the Department’s teaching and research capacity. The Department is looking for a candidate with a strong research and teaching background in International Relations theory, broadly defined. The successful candidate will have a track record of high-quality publications, research funding and innovative teaching in the field of International Relations. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both compulsory and optional teaching in the department at both BA and MA levels. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the leadership and teaching of the Department’s MA degree in International Relations and should have the background and research interests commensurate with leading a large post-graduate programme that explores International Relations from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives.

The Department has a large, diverse IR faculty, with particular research focus on security, technology, violence, ethics, gender, migration and borders. They are a theoretically and methodologically diverse Department, including key strengths in critical approaches and methodologies.
