The Research Officer will work on TASO’s research programme to develop a better understanding of what works to support widening participation and student success. Under the guidance of the Research Programmes Manager and Evidence & Evaluation Manager, the post holder will help support the commissioning of new projects as part of a programme of external research involving practitioners, evaluators and researchers from multiple institutions. They will work across these projects to manage and monitor progress, collate findings, analyse data and help steer the overall research programme. They may also undertake research projects themselves, including synthesis of secondary research; conducting qualitative, quantitative and/or survey research.

The Department of Digital Humanities is seeking to appoint one Lecturer in Humanistic and Social Computing (Academic Education Pathway). The post holder will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across our degrees including the MA Digital Culture and Society, MA Digital Asset and Media Management, MA Big Data & Society, and the BA Digital Culture. The post holder will have a sound knowledge of the key concepts, theories, debates and challenges in digital cultures, with experience of teaching both theory and practice and a good understanding of academic writing and academic research methods linked to the digital. The Department of Communication at the University of Utah invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor (Lecturer) position effective January 1, 2021. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher dedicated to cultivating informed and ethical students who are ready to enter the workforce as well-prepared professionals. The successful candidate must be willing to teach courses, such as video production, principles of visual communication, visual theory, media generally, introductory courses, intro to speech, communication theory, and communication and/or media history. Teaching in strategic communication is a plus. Additionally, depending on the candidate selected, an administrative component may be possible.

Position located at the Utah Asia Campus (UAC) in Songdo, South Korea. All courses taught at the UAC are in English. The standard annual teaching load for lecturers at the UAC is 3/3/1 (three courses in the fall and the spring respectively and one course either during the winter or the summer). Language Education is an innovative and dynamic emerging field in Moray House School of Education and Sport. They are looking to recruit a Lecturer with particular interest in promoting Language Education throughout the School in order to enhance a substantial team of transdisciplinary researchers and teachers, and to embed Language Education across a range of diverse programmes.

“The Language and Communication chair group at the Faculty of Humanities is looking for an Assistant Professor in the field of Health Interactions. Our research and teaching are focused on the interplay of language, interaction and communication. We are looking for someone to further advance our conversation-analytic research and teaching on matters of health and illness, more specifically on how participants negotiate meaning in real-life medical and other health care contexts. Research settings include primary care interactions, consultations on vaccination, dietary advice, patient vlogs, and mental health support groups. The selected candidate will obtain external research funding, coordinate research projects and (co-)supervise PhD candidates. S/he will help develop, and coordinate the new international master track Dialogue, Health and Society (starting September 2021). The track focuses on fundamental interaction-analytic research so as to facilitate and evaluate different forms of dialogue in the health domain. The new assistant professor is familiar with different theoretical and methodological research traditions, including the quantitative analysis of larger data sets. Royal Roads University invites interest in a limited-term Faculty appointment at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor within the School of Communication and Culture (SCC) in the Faculty of Social and Applied Sciences. As a full-time core faculty member, you would play a key role in the delivery of SCC’s programs. SCC offers three degree programs in the study of communication and culture which are focused on the theory and practice of professional communication, in a wide range of contexts including media, organizational and intercultural. They stress a critical-professional educational approach.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping others achieve their academic pursuits and will have demonstrated teaching experience at undergraduate and the graduate levels in the field of communication studies; a sensitivity to diversity in teaching, learning and research; an ability to work as a team member within an interdisciplinary outcome-based curriculum; and administrative experience and abilities, preferably in a university setting.

The position will start in October 2020, but RRU is teaching online this fall, so immediate relocation will not be required.
