The nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization CIEE has been bringing the world together, advancing peace by building bridges of mutual understanding between different people, different countries, and different cultures for 75 years. They offer a variety of scholarships and grants; some are based on need, others on academic achievement, and a few are intended for alumni of a prior CIEE program. They also offer a variety of global internships.

A related program, BridgeUSA, annually attracts around 300,000 individuals to the United States from 200 countries and territories to study in U.S. high schools, universities, and research institutions; build professional networks; enhance English language and intercultural skills; and teach in U.S. schools, colleges, and universities.

The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) is a nonprofit study abroad and intercultural exchange organization that transforms lives and builds bridges between individuals and nations through study abroad and international exchange experiences that help people develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world. The Center Director of CIEE Seville will have the overall responsibility for the management of all aspects of the Center, overseeing the planning and delivery of all CIEE programs, recruiting and developing the Center’s core team, and ensuring the highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction. Successful applicants will be seasoned professionals with a minimum of ten years’ experience in a leadership role within study abroad, international educational exchange, or a related higher education institutional setting. A Ph.D. is preferred, while a master’s degree is required.

Leading Intercultural Dialogues with High School Students

This article provides useful details about how to lead discussion of intercultural dialogue at the high school level, based on the work of Isabelle Jaffe, Director of CIEE Toulouse, with the High School Summer Abroad Program. She “facilitates cultural reflection by providing a space in which students can discuss new experiences and cultural differences and their reactions to them.” Others could learn from her experience.

Responsibilities:
The Director of the CIEE Global Institute – London is responsible for the quality and success of CIEE programs offered in London, with overall responsibility for the management of all aspects of the Global Institute, ensuring the highest levels of quality and customer satisfaction. A significant feature of the work is the planning and delivery of the CIEE Open Campus program, a highly innovative study abroad concept that enables students to design a program from six to 36 weeks, in up to three different locations. This program is defined by the highest standards of educational quality, rigorous coordination between Open Campus locations, and providing access to students of diverse backgrounds. The Director works closely with a core management team who are responsible for the effective, timely, and on-budget delivery of multiple program aspects.

Skills and Experience:
Successful applicants will be seasoned professionals with at least five years’ experience in a leadership role within study abroad, international educational exchange, or a related higher education institutional setting. A Ph.D. is preferred, while a Master’s degree is required.


Student Life Director

Summary of Position: The Student Life Director is responsible for design and delivery of student life programming, community and intercultural engagement activities, and establishing and enforcing procedures to maintain the health, safety, and security of the students at the Global Institute facility. The Director manages the staff of the Student Life Office (SLO) that facilitates cultural integration between students and the broader community in London and coordinates (with the Academics Department) the planning and delivery of experiential learning opportunities such as extra-curricular events, day-trips, and overnight Study Tours. The SLO staff also ensures student access to healthcare providers and establishes preventative and responsive measures and protocols to ensure residential safety and compliance with behavior requirements.

NOTE: CIEE is also advertising two related positions: Student Life Assistant and Operations Assistant, also based in London.
