Royal Roads U: Canada Research Chair in Changemaking (Canada)

As a Tier 2 CRC at Royal Roads, you will develop an exemplary scholarly and creative presence, complement, and enrich research and scholarship among faculty and graduate students, and participate in local and international research networks. While based in one faculty, you will collaborate with other units within RRU as appropriate.

As the Tier 2 CRC in Changemaking, you will have established relationships in both academic and non-academic communities and a portfolio demonstrating the application of applied and problem-based research methods. You will also have demonstrated success (or a high degree of promise) in obtaining research funding from diverse sources, leading collaborative research initiatives, establishing and maintaining community relationships, supervising student research, and mobilizing research. Royal Roads considers a broad range of contributions to research, training and mentoring as part of the merit review process, with a focus on the quality and impact of these contributions.

The successful applicant will be nominated by the University for a Tier 2 CRC and, upon approval by the CRC Secretariat, will be offered an initial five-year continuing-track appointment with the possibility of conversion into a continuing appointment, subject to performance and program needs. The Tier 2 Chairs include the possibility of a renewal for an additional five years.

This position is not currently linked to a particular school within the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies and is open to candidates from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds. The determination of school will be based on the successful candidate’s area of focus. The nominee’s research area, however, must be primarily in the social sciences and humanities (i.e., aligned with the legislated mandate of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada).

Tier 2 Chairs are intended for exceptional emerging scholars. Candidates must have been an active researcher in their field for fewer than 10 years at the time of nomination. Applicants who are more than 10 years from their highest degree may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier 2 justification process. U Hong Kong: International Relations (Hong Kong)

Applications are invited for the appointment as a Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Politics and Public Administration, to commence in August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a PhD in relevant disciplines. They should have at least 2 years’ teaching experience in international university settings and the ability to teach a wide range of core courses currently offered by the Department as well as potentially new courses. These could include a broad range of courses related to international relations theory and practice; they are open to different areas of specialization with international relations. An ability to teach courses on various research methods or data science in addition to international relations topics would also be a potential advantage. Candidates should demonstrate how they incorporate research into their pedagogy, and candidates with peer-reviewed publications in esteemed journals in international relations and political science are particularly welcome to apply. Experience in managing undergraduate and graduate courses and programmes will be an advantage.

U Cambridge: Senior Research Associate for Cambridge Positive Peace Education Hub (UK)

The University of Cambridge Faculty of Education is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Associate (SRA) to lead key aspects of the new Cambridge Positive Peace Education (CPPE) Hub. At a time of rising global conflict, the CPPE Hub aims to make a significant contribution to knowledge and practice in the field of peace education. It will do so by building upon Professor Hilary Cremin’s Positive Peace Education Learning Objectives and two recent positive peace education projects in Kazakhstan and the UK. The CPPE Hub will enhance and scale-up this work by conducting a global peace education needs assessment, implementing case studies in two countries, and developing peace educator and education leader networks.

The findings from this research will be used to create a Positive Peace Education Framework and Curriculum, including a suite of resources to support peace education integration into classrooms, school districts, and national curricula. The collective work of the project will be shared on an interactive digital platform, the CPPE Digital Hub, that will serve as a lasting legacy of the project and help maximise its global reach.

In alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNESCO’s recent call to prioritise peace in education, this project will conduct needed research, bring key global peace education actors into dialogue and collaboration with one another, and make impactful peace education resources more accessible ¿ leading to an array of positive impacts for learners, their communities, countries, and the planet.
