U Jyväskylä: Intercultural Communication (Finland)

The University Teacher’s position is allocated to the discipline of Intercultural Communication in the Department of Language and Communication Studies. The department provides high quality, research-based academic education in language and communication studies.

The University Teacher will be a part of a team responsible for research and education in the field of Intercultural Communication. The teaching takes place in the international MA degree programme Language, Globalization and Intercultural Communication and the study module in Intercultural Communication. The contents of the teaching modules deal for example with themes related to critical approaches to diversity in organizational communication, dynamics of migration, technology-mediated communication across contexts, issues related to intergroup communication, discourses of power, and both qualitative and quantitative methodology.

University Teachers are required to have a relevant master’s degree. The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Excellent proficiency in English is required in this position.

In addition, the following skills and achievements are regarded as merits: (i) experience in teaching, (ii) pedagogical training, (iii) development of teaching materials, (iv) other merits in teaching, (v) other skills and achievements relevant to the task of the University Teacher, and (vi) collaboration possibilities in teaching within the broader structure of the department. The Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, invites applications for a number of permanent professorships in political science and journalism as of March 1, 2026, or as agreed. U Westminster: Research Fellow: The Crisis of Migration Discourse (UK)

The post holder will be based at the Harrow campus, School of Media and Communication, University of Westminster. However, hybrid working arrangements are supported. The post holder should also be prepared to occasionally travel to locations in the UK as needed for fieldwork, or to other locations in the EU for collaboration with project partners and participation in academic and knowledge exchange events.

A Research Fellow is wanted to join the British-based team of a CHANSE /AHRC awarded research project on “The Crisis of Migration Discourse: Towards a Participatory New Lexicon of Migration” (CMD). CMD engages with the impact of discourses and policies that construct migration through the lens of crises on people using unauthorised routes to enter the EU and the UK and are as a result illegalised. To do so, CMD posits illegalised migrants as agents of change working with them to impact the current narratives on migration and related practices and to enhance intercultural exchanges. The project is carried out in three successive modules across five European countries (Italy, France, Denmark, Spain, and the United Kingdom). Part of the project is to develop, test and disseminate educational resources in the form of a toolkit for action and a training programme to enhance the intercultural competence of stakeholders working in the above-specified fields.

The role offers an opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary, international research environment, contributing to innovative approaches in migration discourse analysis and participatory knowledge production. The post holder will be part of the UK based team and their work will focus primarily on working with researchers in the UK and in Italy.

The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background in migration studies, with expertise in critical discourse analysis and participatory research methods. They should be proficient in analysing migration narratives, policy and public discourses through a critical lens. The postholder will be able to take the initiative to develop research objectives and to collaborate with principal and co-investigators in ensuring that research activities and research goals are carried out according to the aims and objectives of the project.

In addition to these core requirements, desirable skills include proficiency in languages other than English (such as Italian or Arabic) which would enhance engagement with diverse communities and sources.

University of California Education Abroad Program: Academic Specialist (USA)

U North Carolina: Assistant Director of Education Abroad (USA)

The Assistant Director of Education Abroad will liaise with campus academic departments for course articulations and international credit transfer. Additionally, they will oversee the coordination, marketing, promotion, and execution of education abroad events, programs, and outreach, while also advising on a small portfolio of education abroad opportunities. This position will also manage UNCW’s Education Abroad scholarship processes, and will coordinate programming, fundraising, assessment, and career-related activities for education abroad alumni and returnees.

The Office of Global Partnerships and International Education is dedicated to developing and increasing the international dimension of the UNCW campus. Earlham College: Assistant Director Japan Programs (USA/Japan)

The Assistant Director of Japan Programs (ADJP) is a full-time, 12-month position that is a hybrid of Administrative Faculty and Teaching Faculty. It is classified as an Administrative Faculty position (and is therefore not eligible for tenure).

The position has two different bases of operation dividing the calendar year:

* From the start of the year (after the U.S. winter holidays) to early August: based on the main Earlham campus in Richmond, Indiana, with some travel to visit colleges and universities partnered with Earlham for Japan Programs and/or other programs

* From mid-August to mid-December: based in Morioka, Japan, in residence with the fall semester-only Japan SICE Program (beginning in fall 2026)

The ADJP assists the Director and other team members with program administration, events planning and management, and maintaining program partnerships. In addition, the ADJP also serves every fall semester as the Faculty Leader of the Japan SICE Program, providing two courses on comparative international education and related areas. In addition, the ADJP also serves as a resource person for the participants in Earlham’s full-time post-bac EC-ALT Program, in which recent college and university graduates serve as assistant English teachers in Morioka.

The ADJP reports to the Director and assists other Japan Programs team members in the administration of various Earlham programs related to Japan, including mainly on-site programs in Japan and programs serving incoming students, staff, and faculty members from Japan. Specific duties will be assigned by the Director.

Educate Together: Global Citizenship Education Officer (Ireland)

UNOPS: Senior Mediation Adviser (Home Based)

Based in New York, the UNOPS Development and Special Initiatives Portfolio supports diverse partners with their peacebuilding, humanitarian and development operations. The portfolio manages the operational support to the Standby Team of Senior Mediation Advisers (SBT) mechanism, along with the provision of project management and implementation services.

Established in 2008, the SBT mechanism is a service of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) situated in the Mediation Support Unit (MSU) of the Policy and Mediation Division (PMD). It is a specialized resource that can be rapidly deployed into the field on a temporary basis to provide technical advice to UN officials and other key stakeholders engaged in conflict prevention or mediation efforts. The services of the SBT mechanism are available to United Nations envoys, political and peacekeeping missions and country teams, as well as to regional organizations and partners with whom the United Nations works closely in conflict mediation and good offices world-wide.

The incumbent of this position will be personnel of UNOPS under its full responsibility. Functional responsibilities will include:

  • Within assigned authority, the Communications Specialist will provide support to the Spokesperson and communication team in developing, writing and preparing written material for delivery by the High Representative and senior management and managing communications, both external and internal, between the senior management and a wide range of audiences, including media.
  • Perform day-to-day tactical communications such as social media posts, news items, letters, and informational updates, all with a view to build strong, bold, sharp and principle-based brand; works with UN departments, funds and agencies to develop ways to implement and collaborate on campaigns system-wide and to incorporate the campaign message and themes into all relevant events and products.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of assigned programme/projects in the area of communication activities.
