Northeastern University London wishes to appoint a part-time fixed term Lecturer to teach the first-year undergraduate Global & Intercultural Communication course running in the spring of 2024. In addition to teaching, the appointed person will also be expected to mark assessments and hold regular office hours. The appointee will teach multiple groups of up to 35 students. Teaching competency in Communication Studies to at least Level 4 (1st year undergraduate) is required.

This role is offered on a part time basis of 0.6FTE and involves up to 150 contact hours. The role requires teaching availability for at least 3 weekdays per week in term-time and consists of up to 9 hours of teaching per week in most weeks. The role is expected to start in December 2023 and end in July 2024. Teaching on the course, in person, will take place between January and April 2024.

This course focuses on theories of and approaches to the study of intercultural communication. It studies the importance of being able to negotiate cultural differences and of understanding intercultural contact in societies and institutions. The course stresses the benefits and complexities of cultural diversity in global, local, and organisational contexts.

They seek an outstanding scholar who will contribute to the department’s national reputation in intercultural communication and who has methodological expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed research methods. Intercultural communication is a historic department strength.

The successful candidate should be an active scholar, with a clearly defined program of research that can make significant theoretical contributions to the intercultural communication discipline and a strong record of or potential for publication in refereed journals. Furthermore, the scholar’s research should help enhance the department’s program and contribute to the broader strategic vision of the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences and The University of Oklahoma. The School of Communication at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Border Studies in Communication, at the level of assistant professor, to start August 2024. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate and graduate curriculum courses that center border studies, including but not limited to intersections with media studies, health communication, rhetorical movements, intercultural communication, organizational communication, and/or gender and sexuality. The candidate will also have the opportunity to create and teach classes aligned with their particular research interests and methodologies, including upper division/graduate level classes. The successful candidate will also be able to teach other graduate-level courses as needed on a rotational basis. The Department of Communication and Language Studies at Bryant University invites applications for a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in Intercultural/International Communication, to help in two B.S. degrees of Communication and Digital Communication and Bryant’s newly revised General Education coursework. They seek a scholar-teacher whose background prepares them to serve as program director of a multi- section intercultural communication course that is a part of the General Education curriculum, along with teaching courses in their area of specialty.

Principal responsibilities of this position include:

  • Teaching courses that examine intercultural and international communication, both in its theoretical concepts, and its real-world application such as: intercultural communication competency, transcultural communication, cultural identity or cultural adaptation, impact of communication on diverse populations, use of communication to address social, cultural, and economic disparities, community outreach, audience analysis, intercultural communication and health science and behavior, and addressing at-risk communities.

  • Revision or creation of higher level courses in intercultural/international communication, as well as other courses that align with the candidate’s specific expertise.
