The Department of Communication of the Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor in cultural studies. They are looking for applicants qualified to teach in some of the following areas: popular culture, Macau and Hong Kong cultures, cultural and creative industries, cinema studies, qualitative research methods, discourse analysis, gender studies, and platform studies. A track record of high-quality research and publications is a must. Ability to develop new courses in new media will be highly desirable. Additional courses may be assigned to match the teaching needs of the department, faculty, and the University.

The Department of Communication currently offers broad-based curricula leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees covering various areas of communication studies (communication theory, intercultural communication, organizational communication, communication skills); vocationally-oriented public communication (public relations, advertising, and event planning); media studies and journalism (journalism writing and publication, mass media, new media, digital culture); cultural studies (cultural and critical theory, cinema, and popular culture); public speaking; and creative media (video production, photography, and animation). The Department of Communication also has an active and successful PhD programme.

U Nebraska: Director, Global Experiences Office (USA)

The Director, Global Experiences Office (GEO) reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs and is responsible for the administrative and programmatic oversight of all global experiential learning opportunities sponsored by the University, including study abroad opportunities. In line with the University’s ‘Forward Together’ campus global strategy, and as a member of the Global Affairs leadership team, the Director will lead institutional efforts to expand global experiences for UNL students and will oversee a team of 7-8 education abroad professionals.

The Director will be required to build strategic relationships with faculty and staff within UNL units for collaboration on global experiential learning programming (including study abroad), to align goals, create efficiencies, and build strong programs. The Director will be required to establish and maintain positive relationships, fostering trust, respect, and confidence between education abroad and internal and external constituents. The Director will be expected to cultivate and expand faculty engagement in global experiential learning by providing a supportive academic and administrative environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly motivated, strategically focused International Recruitment team. As a key member of the international team, you will develop and implement strategies for international student recruitment from selected countries within a designated geographical region, with responsibility for achievement of shared recruitment targets in these countries. You will formulate, co-ordinate and undertake student recruitment activities in your markets through effective country management. Activities will include a range of business development initiatives within the countries of responsibility, including market campaigns, commercial relationship management and profile-raising activities; and contributing to the maintenance of strategic partnerships.

You will play a lead role in advising colleagues in academic schools and colleges on the development of recruitment activities both within the countries that you manage and more broadly across our international activity. The role holder will initially manage international recruitment from UK and Europe. This post will involve regular travel overseas and within the UK (approximately 12 weeks per year). The International Office has a blended approach to working, currently working on campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays and remotely (from home) for the rest of the week. The option to work on campus full time is available if staff members choose to do this.

John Cabot University invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position in International Relations and/or International Law. The appointment is for one year, beginning August 2024, and with possibility of renewal. They seek candidates with a Ph.D. in International Relations or International Law, demonstrated excellence in teaching and research, and commitment to academic service. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with an interdisciplinary expertise in the two above-mentioned areas. Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Cybersecurity, Environmental Politics, Transatlantic Relations and US Politics, Food Security and International Development.

The ideal candidate should have familiarity and experience with the American liberal arts educational tradition, and be prepared to teach introductory courses (e.g., World Politics, International Organizations, International Law) as well as courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Candidates are expected to be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction, and to have permission to work in the EU.

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one or more departments or schools in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs (GCUA) in the area Ethnic and Equity Studies with an emphasis in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI-B). The individual will facilitate college-level DEI-B initiatives. The Department of Communication at the University of Utah invites applications for an Open Rank Tenure-Track Position: Director of the Master’s Program, University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC), effective July 1, 2024. This position requires full-time relocation to Incheon, South Korea. A PhD in Communication, or a terminal degree in an allied field, or equivalent professional and/or industry experience and status are required. Salary is dependent on qualifications, but minimum starting salary is expected to be $100,000 USD + administrative stipend, plus expenses. Tenure will be held on the Salt Lake City campus. They seek an administrator to direct the Master’s Program at UAC and teach graduate and undergraduate courses. Administrative experience, graduate advising experience, and graduate teaching are highly preferred. Applicants should have a broad understanding of the communication field and be able to articulate their research, teaching, and service interests as aligned with our current tenure-track faculty at the Salt Lake City campus. Professional and/or industry experience in strategic communication, advertising, public relations, marketing, journalism, media effects, and/or media studies is a plus.
