The Department of Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute seeks to make an appointment for the Peter Mair Assistant Professorship in Comparative Politics. The position is advertised at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence in the academic year 2024/25. Applications are invited from candidates engaged in advanced comparative political science research, across the globe, with preference given to a focus outside Europe. Candidates should have a PhD by September 2024. The candidates should show strong research potential and a capacity for effective teaching and advising at graduate level.

The Morton Deutsch International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution (MD-ICCCR) at Columbia University is currently seeking a Research and Tech Assistant. The Research Assistant will assist in research projects connected to a multidisciplinary research agenda in the field of conflict resolution, peace studies, and sustainability. The Research Assistant will spend their time providing technical assistance for the various apps, assessments and websites already utilized by the center as well as the development of additional tools.

The position will support the research program for 10 hours per week and can be accomplished remotely, or hybrid as desired.

The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program (HHH) brings mid-career professionals from over 120 countries to the United States for a full year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts and English language training if needed. Additionally, the Distinguished Humphrey Fellowship Program (DHFP) brings three cohorts of senior level professionals to the US for 2-3 weeks of intense professional and leadership development in certain critical fields. The Assistant Director(AD) for HHH is a manager level position, supervising three FTE. This position directly supports the HHH Director, serves in the Director’s stead when required, and is responsible for the administration of the DHFPs. The AD is an important client-facing role, supporting project management efforts to ensure that contractual deliverables are met. This position regularly communicates with external program partners (U.S. universities, co-sponsors, U.S. Embassies and Fulbright commissions and other stakeholders) and works closely with their counterpart at the ECA, the Grants Officer Representative (GOR) on a daily basis. The Centre on Asia and Globalisation (CAG), at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, invites applications for Research Fellowships in the field of International Relations, with a focus on Southeast Asia. The Lee Kuan Yew School is a leading school of public policy with an international faculty and student body. CAG was established in 2006 to provide accurate, independent, and high-quality analysis on issues of regional and global significance for academia, decision-makers, commentators, and the general public. Its current research agenda focuses on the prospects of regional and global order; the future of economic globalisation/de-globalisation and their impact on Asia; the alignment postures of Southeast Asia in an era of superpower competition; and the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on international politics.

The candidate will conduct independent, in-depth, and publishable research on issues in his/her expertise and contribute to the Centre’s agenda on international relations of Southeast Asia. S/he is expected to initiate and organize research projects, workshops, conferences, and other research events. S/he should be able to reach out to publishers and actively engage with academia, policy practitioners, and media and business leaders, as well as apply for external grants. In addition, s/he is expected to play a role in coordinating with other researchers and contribute to the broader intellectual life of the centre.

European Policy Dialogue Forum 2023 (Netherlands)

The theme for the 5th European Policy Dialogue Forum will be “Young People and Social Inclusion in European Cities.” If you are between 18 and 30 years of age, are actively engaged in your community, passionate about social inclusion and willing to bring your contribution and energy, the organizers encourage you to apply to this call. They are selecting up to 30 young people who are residents from one of the 46 European countries to participate to their signature event – the European Policy Forum Dialogue (EPDF) – in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 13-15 November 2023.

They encourage young migrants and refugees to apply to the call, as other young people from underrepresented groups, including young women. They believe in the transformative power of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, as a tool to make communities more inclusive and resilient. Together with policymakers, religious leaders and actors, civil society organizations and youth representatives, they will explore unexpected partnerships and collaborations to make cities places where everyone feels belonging.

What is the European Policy Dialogue Forum about?

Some 120 policymakers, religious actors, youth representatives, civil society leaders and experts will come together in Rotterdam for the 5th EPDF to discuss the role of young people in social inclusion in European urban spaces, with a focus on the following themes:

o Bridging divisions in European cities – addressing young people’s concerns and joining efforts towards enhanced opportunities for current and future generations.

o Empowerment and participation of young people – enhancing the creation of inclusive spaces and fostering an environment for mutual understanding, recognition and respect.

o Creating spaces for intergenerational dialogue and foster collaborative action between young people, religious actors and policy makers to make diversity and inclusion meaningful in urban areas.

The European Policy Dialogue Forum in Rotterdam will be organized by the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) in partnership with the European Council of Religious Leaders / Religions for Peace Europe (ECRL/RfP), the Network for Dialogue and with support of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

Migrating Minds: Journal of Cultural Cosmopolitanism is a new peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal devoted to interdisciplinary research on cultural cosmopolitanism from a comparative perspective. It provides a unique, international forum for innovative critical approaches to cosmopolitanism emerging from literatures, cultures, media, and the arts in dialogue with other areas of the humanities and social sciences, across temporal, spatial, and linguistic boundaries. By placing creative expressions at the center of a wide range of contemporary and historical intercultural relationships, the journal explores forms of belonging and spaces of difference and dissidence that challenge both universalist and exclusionary paradigms.

The Inaugural Issue is scheduled to appear in Fall 2023. Submissions invited for the first regular issue, Vol. 1 (1), Spring 2024. The Open University is recruiting a Project Manager to manage the Horizon-Europe and Innovate UK co-funded research project entitled OppAttune: Countering Oppositional Extremism through Attuned Dialogue: Track, Attune, Limit. OppAttune is focused on reducing extreme political narratives and building capacity for democratic dialogue in Europe and beyond. OppAttune is a jointly co-ordinated project involving co-ordination between the Open University, UK, Panteion University, Athens, Greece and Glasgow Caledonian University, UK. The successful project manager will work closely with the three joint coordinators Professor Kesi Mahendran (OU), Professor Xenia Chryssochoou (Panteion) and Professor Umut Korkut (GCU). The project manager will have the opportunity to work with a large OppAttune research team based within the centre, the work package leads, the steering committee and the full consortium of 17 international partners to deliver the project on time within budget. The project began in April 2023 and will run until March 2026.
