Emin Yiğit Koyuncuoğlu is about to graduate with a BA in Communication Design and Management from the University of Anadolu (Turkey), including a year of studying Tourism Management at the University of Primorska (Slovenia). He completed a Marketing internship in Tallinn (Estonia), and has worked as a tour guide and as a staff member with Tourcon Turizm ve Kongre Hizmetleri in Antalya (Turkey), helping that organization prepare for national and international conferences. As a travel enthusiast and hitchhiker, he manages a Facebook page about his experiences, improving social media and video editing skills. He considers himself a linguaphile currently learning the art of translation.
Massey University’s National Expedition and Internship Program is open to undergraduate students from any university wishing to study, travel, and intern in New Zealand for 6 weeks in June-July 2017. The program is organised by the ACEJMC-accredited School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing, and it begins with the two week ‘Image and Identity Tour’ which takes students across both Islands to delve into how successful the brands and images of the tourism industry are at capturing the attention of people new to the country and culture. The tour finishes in the capital city of Wellington where students stay to complete a four week internship working on real world problems relevant to their degrees in Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Communication, or related areas.
Exploration of some of the planet’s most spectacular scenery, immersion in Kiwi culture, and engagement with key industry players are all integrated with academic coursework that is worth 6-8 U.S. semester credits. We are seeking applications from research active staff at the level of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Tourism. This vacancy offers applicants the opportunity to join the staff of the well-established and progressive Department of Tourism, at the University of Otago.
Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor must hold a PhD and have a demonstrated record of publication in high quality academic journals. Candidates who have the capability to teach events management and/or tourism product development will be viewed favourably. Applicants who demonstrate a capacity to work with industry are especially welcome to apply. All applicants should be able to demonstrate a clear commitment to team work and the ability to enhance the teaching, learning and research environment of the Department of Tourism. Experience in supervision of postgraduate students is also a critical component to this position.

Tourism is a cornerstone of the New Zealand economy and is of great significance to New Zealand’s environment and society.
