The Meeting of Minds@HKU Forum for Outstanding Young Scholars is a 2-day forum to discuss grand challenges through the lens of advanced knowledge, discovery and innovation across science, the humanities, and social sciences. This forum engages participants in intellectually stimulating and creative dialogue to explore how to ignite collective will, wisdom and innovation to improve the human condition. Participants interested in joining HKU as assistant professors will be invited for recruitment interviews, so this is both a conference and a job opportunity.

Hong Kong U: Strategy/International Business (Hong Kong)

“JobProfessor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Strategy/International Business, Hong Kong University, Hong Kong. Review of applications will start as soon as possible and continue until September 30, 2019, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Strategy/International Business (IB) in the Faculty of Business and Economics, to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal with consideration for tenure during the second fixed-term contract.  The successful candidate with more experience and qualifications may be considered for direct tenure subject to approval.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Strategy, IB or Management, with potential for high-quality research and teaching.  Preferences will be given to those specialized in Strategy/IB areas such as corporate strategy, firm boundaries and organization, with a focus on strategies in emerging economies.  The appointee is expected to publish in top-tier strategy/IB journals and to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Marketing in the Faculty of Business and Economics, to commence on July 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal, or on tenured terms for exceptionally outstanding candidates subject to approval.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree, with preference given to those with a research focus on quantitative marketing, marketing strategy, or services marketing.  Research excellence (i.e. published papers or papers in advanced stages in top-tier marketing or related journals) and strong teaching performance are expected.  The appointee is expected to be committed to high-quality scholarly research and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses.

Hong Kong U Job Ad: Language and Communication

Applications are invited for tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in English Linguistics/Language and Communication in the School of English of the Faculty of Arts, to commence on January 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The School of English offers an integrated programme in English Studies, including undergraduate teaching and supervision of research students in English and American Literatures, World Literature in English, English Linguistics, World Englishes, Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, and Language Acquisition. It also offers an undergraduate interdisciplinary programme in Language and Communication, which focuses on the study and use of language in multilingual contexts, particularly in Asia, as well as languages in socio-cultural contexts. The School also contributes to the teaching of the B.A. & B.Ed. in Language Education (English) and the B.A. (Literary Studies) & L.L.B. double degree programmes.

The position is open to scholars working in any subfield of English linguistics or language and communication. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline and an active research record, and be prepared to teach and supervise at the B.A., M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels. The appointee should be able to contribute to the teaching of both the English Studies programme and the programme in Language and Communication.
