The submission of applications for a residence at the Institute of Advanced Studies of Nantes in 2020-2021 is now open. Two types of fellowships are possible:

IMéRA Institute for Advanced Study 2020 (France)

“Fellowships“Call for applications: Chair, Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)- Institute for Advanced Study (IMéRA), 2019-20, Aix-Marseille University, France. Deadline: 19 April 2019.

2019-20 theme: “Transformations structurelles et dynamiques institutionnelles en Francophonie” [Structural transformations and institutional dynamics in the Francophone world].

This call for applications to host a researcher in residence in Marseille is aimed at senior French-speaking academics and researchers from all disciplines who have acquired international scientific recognition (awards, publications, international expertise, etc.). The Chairholder will be hosted in residence in Marseille for a period of 10 months to conduct research work in connection with teams and laboratories of the university, as well as with partner organizations.

Paris Institute for Advanced Studies (France)

The Paris Institute for Advanced Study welcomes applications from high level international scholars and scientists in the fields of the humanities and the social sciences for a research stay of five or ten months, during the academic year 2020-2021. The Paris IAS gives its research fellows the unique opportunity to work freely on the project of their choice. They will benefit from the scientific environment of the Institute and receive support for creating contacts with researchers in the academic institutions of Greater Paris. Each cohort of fellows includes about 20 researchers from all backgrounds, disciplines and nationalities.

Current calls include Blue Sky Fellowships and Dark Clouds Fellowships, among others.

Paris Seine Institute for Advanced Studies Fellowships (France)

“Fellowships“Fellows-in-Residence, Paris Seine Initiative Institute for Advanced Studies, Paris, France. Deadline: 5 March 2019.

As part of the Paris Seine excellence initiative (PSI), a Call for Proposals is launched to support research excellence and international development. The PSI-IAS (Institute for Advanced Studies) Fellowships program is an international multidisciplinary visiting program. Researchers of all nationalities are eligible. The program will host 10 junior and senior researchers, for a duration ranging from 4 months to one year, during the academic year 2019-2020.

Leading Intercultural Dialogues with High School Students

This article provides useful details about how to lead discussion of intercultural dialogue at the high school level, based on the work of Isabelle Jaffe, Director of CIEE Toulouse, with the High School Summer Abroad Program. She “facilitates cultural reflection by providing a space in which students can discuss new experiences and cultural differences and their reactions to them.” Others could learn from her experience.

Each programme is associated with a “white” (or general) call and a set of specific residencies jointly managed by local, national or international partners. These specific residencies include chairs reserved for experienced researchers.

Paris Institute for Advanced Study

FellowshipsThe Paris Institute for Advanced Study is launching two calls for applications for research fellowships in 2019-2020 open to researchers of all nationalities:

– one call for 5 or 10-month fellowships in the “Blue Sky Research” program, open to all disciplines and themes in the humanities and social sciences.
– one call for 5 or 10-month fellowships in the “Brain, Culture and Society” program. This call is for researchers willing to conduct a project at the interface between neuroscience, cognitive science and the humanities and social sciences.
 
The deadline for submission for both calls is April 3rd, 2018.
