The Department of Political Science at Northwestern University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in International Relations to begin on September 1, 2025. All methodological approaches are welcome. The ideal candidate will have broad training in the discipline and aim for work that offers insight into important issues in contemporary world politics as well as impact within the field.

The successful applicant will teach a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses. A Ph.D. in Political Science, International Relations, or a closely related discipline is required. ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2025 will be considered. Applicants must provide a curriculum vitae, cover letter, writing sample, a research statement, and three letters of recommendation. The research statement can encompass research, teaching, and service, as well as contributions to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Review of applications will begin immediately. SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) invites applications for two Lecturer / Senior (T&R) Lecturer positions in Politics and/or International Relations starting in the Autumn of 2025. The role holder will be expected to contribute to—and shape—the Department’s research profile as well as the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Apart from the publication of outstanding academic research, the role holder will convene and teach both general and specialist modules (individually and with others), advise both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, supervise PhD theses (pending completion of a probationary period), and provide pastoral care for students. The role holder will also be expected to work in a collegial and collaborative manner with both academic and non-academic staff across the Department and the School.

Within the discipline of Politics and International Relations, the search is open as to disciplinary subfield and research specialism. Regional expertise is valued, and some experience running both on-campus and online modules, including Executive Education modules, will be beneficial.

Secondary areas of particular need for the department include the ability to teach business communication, public relations, mass communication, and health communication. Successful candidates will study race through any of a number of rhetorical perspectives (theory, criticism, history, or any combination of these approaches) and will demonstrate race is a central and animating focus of their scholarship and teaching in their application. The University is seeking a new Lecturer to teach and coordinate an MA programme in Reconciliation and Peacebuilding. The successful applicant will have a strong academic and professional background in reconciliation / peace studies and have competence in digital teaching and learning methods.

Delivered primarily online, the MA Reconciliation / Reconciliation and Peacebuilding programme supports the advanced study of contemporary theoretical and practical approaches to reconciliation and peacebuilding, with a particular emphasis on religious and cultural contexts. The programme enables students to engage profoundly in key methods of reconciliation and religious peacebuilding through reflection and analysis of relevant theories, case studies, and examples of best practice.

Taught modules include Theories and Dynamics of Reconciliation, Dialogue and Disagreement, and Practical Bridge-building. This role will also include the supervision of dissertation projects.
