University of Liverpool is  seeking to appoint a Lecturer to join an ambitious and thriving Department which has undergone considerable expansion and development in recent years. Candidates with a background in multimodal discourse analysis and the potential to contribute to the Discourse, Data and Society research group are strongly encourage to apply. In addition, they are looking for candidates with a strong research profile and the ability to contribute 4* publications for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).

You will undertake research and teaching in the Department of Communication and Media, with a preferred teaching focus on multimodal approaches to media texts. The post will support teaching in visual communication, journalism and strategic communication, and involvement in individual and team teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Preference will be given to applicants with whose research contributes to the Discourse, Data and Society research group which brings together ground-breaking work in multimodal studies, artificial intelligence and data analytics with expertise in critical discourse studies, language and strategic communication.

The Department of Media and Cinema Studies in the College of Media at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Race and Media Studies. The expected start date is August 2022. The Department seeks candidates who possess the potential for high-quality research, publication, and teaching in the field of race and media studies in US, transnational, or global perspective. Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. (or advanced ABD status) in media studies, communications, ethnic studies, or a related field. The successful candidate should demonstrate teaching and research experience in the areas of communication and media studies, as well as critical race studies. King’s College London wishes to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Cultural Competency (Academic Education Pathway), tenable for three years, from September 2021. The successful candidate will be based in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, and join colleagues in the Cultural Competency Institute, which oversees the cross-Faculty development and implementation of Cultural Competency at King’s. The successful candidate will play a key role in the collaborative envisioning, planning, and organization of this Institute. In particular, they will help develop, convene, teach, and assess a range of intellectually vibrant cross-Faculty undergraduate modules in topics relating to Cultural Competency. The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania is searching for an internationally recognized senior scholar to join our faculty and lead the School’s endowed Center for Advanced Research in Global Communication to begin the fall semester 2022. The School is looking for a productive researcher, engaged scholar, and committed teacher/mentor who studies cross-national, supranational, transnational and/or translocal theories and subjects, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods. Topics may include but are not limited to critical and/or comparative studies of media institutions, systems, and audiences as they relate to digital inequalities; diasporas; development; the uses and structural impacts of technologies; legal, economic and policy frameworks; journalism; the geopolitics of the popular; postcolonial and indigenous studies; and implications of communication infrastructures. Williams College: Asian American Studies (USA)

The American Studies Program at Williams College seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in Asian American Studies, to start July 1, 2022, at the rank of Assistant Professor (in exceptional cases, a more advanced appointment may be considered). The program seeks to complement and expand the expertise of existing faculty who teach Asian American topics, at a time when the College is working towards building an Asian American Studies program. It is particularly interested in scholars doing comparative ethnic studies work, especially at the intersection of Asian American and African American/Black studies, but applications from  those working on other topics as well are also welcome.  There is a strong preference for interested candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the interdisciplinary nature and methodologies of American Studies in their research and teaching. The teaching load is two courses per semester and a three-week-long winter-study course every other January.
