Call for Nominations/ Applications: Communication and Race, Editor-elect. Deadline: January 31, 2022.

 

The journal Communication and Race is a new peer-reviewed publication of the National Communication Association. The journal publishes original scholarship on the centrality of race, racism, and colonialism to the praxis of communication. The journal contributes in distinct ways to the Communication discipline by building on the theories and epistemologies of Black, Ethnic, Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian studies scholars.

During 2022, NCA’s Publications Council will nominate an Editor-Elect (or co-Editors- Elect) for the new journal. The appointed Editor, who will serve as the journal’s founding Editor, will begin processing manuscripts early in 2023, and will oversee the volumes for 2024-2026. The journal is to be published four times each year.

Everyday Peace Indicators: Project Coordinator (Sri Lanka)

Everyday Peace Indicators (EPI) is engaged in a long-term research project in Sri Lanka that aims to build knowledge about local understandings and dynamics of reconciliation. Specifically, we are working with the US Institute of Peace (USIP) and the Social Scientists’ Association (SSA) to gather data about perceptions of peace and reconciliation in 30 communities throughout Sri Lanka to inform the Social Cohesion and Reconciliation (SCORE) Activity funded by USAID. As outlined on our website, EPI uses a unique, participatory approach called Everyday Peace Indicators.

After a significant pause due to COVID-19, EPI will reinitiate its on-the-ground activities in Sri Lanka in early 2022. As such, EPI requires a project coordinator to manage local activities, assist with qualitative and quantitative research, and liaise with partner organizations and EPI staff in the USA. The EPI coordinator will be hired on a one-year fulltime contract with the possibility of extension, pending satisfactory performance. Project guidance will be provided by Professor Pamina Firchow from Brandeis University and Dr. Leslie MacColman from the Ohio State University.

The Program Associates function as key members of the Global Programs Team and reports to the relevant Program Manager. This position would have additional responsibilities in supporting the design and implementation of leadership programming in the United States. The Senior Associate will work closely with external design partners and subject matter experts, and will regularly collaborate with teams across the Foundation to support a shared approach for leadership development across our audiences, including global programming, programmatic partnerships in Chicago, online resources for the general public, and Obama Presidential Center experiences. East-West Center: Title IX & DEI Coordinator (USA)

The East-West Center is accepting applications for a two-year, limited position as a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Coordinator. This position oversees Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) efforts throughout the East-West Center (EWC). Serving as a subject-matter expert and organizational culture champion, the incumbent will work collaboratively with Management Operations and the Human Resources Office to implement a robust, integrated DE&I strategy that spans compliance, accountability, retention, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and learning and development. The position will foster innovation in DE&I initiatives by using meaningful data to measure compliance with and aligned business strategies to DE&I principles and with regard to Title VII, Affirmative Action and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, this position will have primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with Title IX to support the organizational climate in which all members of the EWC team are protected from all forms of sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual violence, and gender-based harassment and discrimination. The DE&I Coordinator will serve as a liaison with DE&I Committee and other stakeholders to develop initiatives and processes at the Center along with providing support to programs that promote equity for under-represented minorities on the EWC campus.

The Journal of International and Intercultural Communication (JIIC) is a peer-reviewed publication of the National Communication Association (NCA). JIIC publishes original scholarship that expands understanding of international, intercultural, and cross-cultural communication. Widely interdisciplinary, JIIC features diverse perspectives and methods, including qualitative, quantitative, critical, and textual approaches to intellectual inquiry.

Based at UNU’s Headquarters in Tokyo, the Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) is charged with the mission of serving the international community through policy-relevant research and capacity development focused on sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental dimensions.

The Media & Engagement Specialist will promote UNU-IAS and its activities to raise visibility and impact. She/he will play a key role in implementing the communications strategy of UNU-IAS, with the overall goal of shaping, packaging, and delivering the institute’s products and expertise to maximize impact, effect positive change, and drive further demand for UNU-IAS work. UNESCO: Program Specialist in Culture (France)

Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture, the general supervision of the Director of the World Heritage Centre (WHC), and the direct supervision of the Head of the Arab States Unit of the World Heritage Centre (WHC/ARB), the incumbent shall exercise the function of Program Specialist contributing to the implementation of the 1972 World Heritage Convention in the Arab States Region for cultural and natural heritage, working within the Global Strategy adopted by the World Heritage Committee, using Periodic Reporting and Monitoring Reporting as an efficient conservation tool, implementing the strategic objectives and decisions adopted by the World Heritage Committee, cooperating with UN agencies on all related activities, and acting as Focal Point for a defined number of States Parties in the Unit within the World Heritage Centre. Required qualifications include, but are not limited to, an advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in the field of Cultural and/or Natural Heritage, Humanities, Law or Natural Sciences with specialization in natural or cultural heritage, Culture, Archaeology, Architecture, International Relations, or related area.

The Japan-United States Educational Commission (JUSEC) invites applications from experienced American and Japanese citizens for the position of Executive Director.
