Summer Study Abroad Opportunity in beautiful Jyväskylä Finland
29 May-17 June 2015

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply for San Jose State University‘s Summer Study Abroad Program at Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä, Finland. Earn up to 6 units of credit in three weeks with a combination of two on-ground courses and a hybrid course. Courses are especially designed for students in communication studies and business, but all majors are invited to join.

Consider participating in this opportunity to visit the lush, beautiful town of Jyväskylä, Finland, hosted by faculty at San José State University.  In just three weeks, you can not only explore Jyväskylä, but, through optional guided excursions, also visit Helsinki (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden) and St. Petersburg (Russia).  Courses will be taught in English by international faculty and will include students from around the world.  Program costs are approximately $2500 plus travel and meals.

Historically, the program has hosted majors from the departments of Communication, Hospitality and Tourism, and Business, but we welcome anyone interested in international exchange!

SJSU study abroad in Finland 2014

San José State University is hosting an Early Summer Study Abroad Program in Jyväskylä, Finland (May 28-June 23, 2014).  Participants may earn 3-6 units of credit by taking courses ranging from creative leadership to international business speaking to Russian language and culture. Program costs are approximately $2500, plus airfare, meals and optional arranged excursions to Stockholm, Sweden and St. Petersburg, Russia. Participants must place a modest deposit ($500) toward their total program fees by March 15th.

The Department of Communication Studies at San Jose State University announces an Assistant Professor position in Applied Communication with teaching and research emphases in applied organization studies and/or business communication starting August 2012. Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Communication Studies (no later than August 20, 2012), must demonstrate excellence in teaching, and provide evidence of an active, promising, and sustainable research program in the area of applied communication.  ABD considered (but appointment would be at lower rank and salary, pending completion of Ph.D.).

 

Applicants should have an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience. Experience developing and integrating online learning components into the classroom would be highly valued. Teaching and research interests that relate clearly to the department’s focus on democracy, diversity, globalization, and technology are particularly desirable.
