CIDOB: Research Fellow, Migration (Spain)

CIDOB (Barcelona Centre for International Affairs) opens a research fellow position for its area of Migrations, in particular for the Whole-COMM project with the possibility of working on other projects. The candidate will participate in the research related to the integration processes of recently arrived immigrants in small and medium-sized towns and rural areas. The Whole-COMM Project, funded by the European Commission through its H2020 programme, promotes scientific knowledge about the dynamics and causal mechanisms that influence the complex relationship between integration policies and Community cohesion. This is through a comparative approach between countries (8 EU and 2 non-EU) and between localities (40), and a mixed methodology that combines qualitative and quasi-experimental techniques, an attitude survey and a quantitative analysis on the impact of policies on social cohesion and immigrant integration trajectories.

The Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Global Communication Studies to begin the fall semester 2022. The search is for a productive researcher, engaged scholar, and committed teacher/mentor who studies cross-national, supranational, transnational and/or translocal theories and subjects, using qualitative and/or quantitative methods. Topics may include but are not limited to critical and/or comparative studies of media institutions, systems, and audiences as they relate to digital inequalities; diasporas; development; the uses and structural impacts of technologies; legal, economic and policy frameworks; journalism; the geopolitics of the popular; postcolonial and indigenous perspectives; and implications of communication infrastructures. This position is one of two hires reflect a desire to expand ASC’s footprint in global communication. Preference will be given to researchers whose work centers on the Global South.

The School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University invites applications for the position of either tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor of intercultural studies and literature and/or history and society, with an emphasis on English-language texts and contexts, based at the Department of English. The tenure-track assistant professorship begins with a full-time, fixed-term, five-year appointment as assistant professor with a view to permanent employment as associate professor. The associate professorship is full-time and tenured. The department’s research covers literature, social/historical/media studies, linguistics and regions in which English is the primary language, as well as English as the global language of international business communication.

The The Department of Communication Studies at Emerson College seeks a faculty colleague with expertise in the fields of Communication Studies, Intercultural Communication and Civic Engagement. This will be a full-time appointment at the tenure-track Assistant Professor rank. The appointment begins on August 19, 2021.

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the Communication Studies major including, but not limited to, Research Methods, Intercultural Communication, and the Fundamentals of Speech Communication course required of all Emerson students. Other courses in the Departments’ Political Communication, Sports Communication, and Public Relations majors may also be available. The faculty member also will have the opportunity to develop new courses.
The position also includes opportunities to teach in the three Department of Communication Studies graduate programs: MA in Sports Communication, MA in Public Relations and the MA in Political Communication. The successful candidate should have both vision and experience in incorporating diversity and inclusion and cultural competency within the curriculum. The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) invites applications for the full-time position of Professor (tenured) in Communication Studies. The professorship is with the Department of Communication and Media Research DCM and comes with one fully funded PhD position. The appointment begins in early 2022.

The position requires a specialization in individual (micro-level) issues of communication and media research from a social scientific perspective. This includes but is not limited to research fields like media exposure, media use and media effects and/or audience studies and/or media and online communication content. Moreover, candidates should be able to contribute to teaching in other areas on the Bachelor level, for instance journalism research or media economics and media management. Finally, they should also take the digital transformation of communication and media into account in their current and/or future research and teaching activities.
