This postdoctoral position is with the Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledges and Science (CBIKS), a National Science Foundation Science & Technology Center. CBIKS is an interdisciplinary center that utilizes community-based research to examine how to effectively and ethically braid Indigenous and Western science research, education, and practices related to the urgent and interconnected areas of climate change, care of cultural places, and food sovereignty.

CBIKS activities include conducting place-based research in regional Hubs worldwide while documenting and promoting ethical community-based practices of braiding Indigenous and Western science. The person who holds this position will assist two CBIKS thematic working groups (TWGs): the Ethics TWG and the Relationality & Research Development TWG.

This is an on-site position at CBIKS Central on the UMass Amherst campus in Amherst, MA with the expectation of some remote work. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal in a second year.

The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) is the University of Freiburg’s international research college. The Japan World Exposition 1970 Commemorative Fund Grant program (JEC Fund Grant program) was established in commemoration of the success of the Japan World Exposition of 1970 (Expo ’70), the theme of which was “Progress and Harmony for Mankind,” to convey the legacy and ideals of Expo ’70 to future generations. The following kinds of projects are supported:

  • Projects contributing to international cultural exchange and international goodwill
  • International projects in the fields of academic study, education, social welfare, medical care, and hygiene and public health
  • International projects designed for conservation of nature and the human environment

Projects with either of the following themes are given preference in screening:

  • To inherit and evolve the idea of Expo ’70 toward EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (Expo 2025), resulting in the creation of values for a new era, and contribute to the success of Expo 2025
  • International conferences that qualify for the JEC Fund Grant are limited to meetings in basic natural sciences, excluding engineering and medical science, in which operational funds are deemed to be insufficient despite the importance of the meetings

The The School of Communication at The Ohio State University invites applications for a 9-month full time tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2025. The successful applicant will teach courses related to interpersonal communication, organizational communication, group dynamics, and/or intercultural communication. Specific instructional needs include Communication & Conflict, Intro to Organizational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Information Technology & Organizations, Communication Dynamics in Groups, International Perspectives on Communication, and Media & Terrorism. The assistant professor will be expected to actively engage in scholarly work; the area of research is open. They welcome applicants whose research complements and builds on existing areas of strength, which include communication technology and society; health communication and social influence; mass communication uses and effects; and/or political communication and public opinion.
