Strong Cities Network: Head of Western Balkans Regional Hub

Launched at the United Nations in 2015, Strong Cities is an independent global network of more than 220 cities and other local governments dedicated to addressing all forms of hate, extremism and polarisation at a local level.

The Head of the Western Balkans Regional Hub will lead engagement with mayors and cities, as well as other relevant partners including national governments, multilateral and civil society organisations and donors, fostering strong and effective relationships to deliver the Strong Cities mission. The role will lead coordination and implementation of an annual workplan, build high-level strategic partnerships and strong relationships with relevant stakeholders and partner institutions in the region, and lead ongoing development and sustainability efforts. Overall, the role will ensure that the Network’s strategy and activities are driven by – and ultimately responds to – the needs and gaps that cities themselves identify in their ability to prevent hate, violent extremism and polarisation at local levels.

Danube U Krems: Country Experts for West Balkans and North Africa (Austria)

“JobCall for experts: Measuring Irregular Migration (MIrreM), Department of Migration and Globalization, Danube University Krems, Austria. Deadline: 16 April 2023.

The University for Continuing Education Krems (Danube University Krems) is looking for expressions of interests from qualified experts interested to contribute to research conducted under the EU funded research project “Measuring irregular migration and related policies” (MIrreM). The project’s research covers 20 countries, including 12 EU countries and the United Kingdom, the US and Canada covered by project partners and five non-EU countries to be covered by experts recruited through this call.

Specifically, they are looking for up to five experts mapping policies and estimates/statistical data on irregular migration for a) two Western Balkan Country (two of the following countries shall be covered: Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo2 or Bosnia-Herzegovina), two North African countries (two of the following countries shall be covered: Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria or Morocco) and Türkiye. Experts may express an interest for one or more countries mentioned above, provided they can prove country expertise, expertise on (irregular) migration and related policies and ability to analyse statistical data and estimates on the subject. There are 3 deliverables due in August and September, at which point the experts will be paid.
