Reporting to the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management, the senior director promotes the global visibility of the AUC by implementing internationalization initiatives. He or She enhances the international student’s experience at the AUC by launching the international students’ engagement plans to ensure the integration of international students within the AUC student body. UNC: Assistant Director for International Programs (USA)

The Office of International Programs (OIP) serves as a center of leadership for the international role and mission of the university. It is comprised of six related units that function together toward creating an international perspective in all facets of campus life. Those units include: OIP Administration (OIPA), Office of Education Abroad (OEA), International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO), English Language Training Institute (ELTI), Office of Intercultural and Educational Experiences (OIEE), and the Office of Global Education and Engagement (OGEE). OIP also hosts the World Affairs Council of Charlotte (WACC).

The assistant director for the Office of International Programs supports the associate provost for International Programs by collaborating directly with six operational units and assisting with the overall administration of OIP’s ongoing operations, such as communications, marketing and public relations, risk management, and facilities management. Transylvania University, a top-tier, independent, residential liberal arts college of 1,000 students in Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Global and Intercultural Engagement. This is a full-time, on-campus position. The person selected will provide assistance and support in the Office of Global and Intercultural Engagement for tasks related to study abroad, international student services and retention, and campus-wide internationalization efforts. This includes conducting advising sessions for students interested and enrolled in study abroad programs, developing and implementing an online engagement strategy through social media, supporting the preparation of faculty-led study abroad programs, conducting outreach activities and events for students, and serving as a resource to current and prospective students, parents, and the university community. The person in this role will serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) as identified by the U.S. government to update and maintain the SEVIS records of nonimmigrant F-1 visa students, with the responsibility to ensure compliance with federal policy, interpret and implement policies and regulations, and maintain student immigration status and authorization. This person will also serve as the primary advisor and support contact to assist international students with their cultural adjustment and integration into campus and the Lexington, KY area. In support of that goal, the person in this role will organize and carry out new international student orientation, including pre-arrival communication, airport pickups, and select orientation sessions, including both online and in-person events. Responsibilities also include developing social, academic and career development infrastructures that promote international student success, including meaningful connections with faculty, staff, students, and local communities.

U Edinburgh: International Programmes (UK)

The University of Edinburgh’s Study and Work Away Service (SWAY) oversees the management of international study and work placement experiences for students and staff, working in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will focus on the delivery of international study exchange activities and be responsible for monitoring and progressing a high volume of bilateral exchange agreement renewals, which will entail working with colleagues across the University to ensure compliance. The post holder will also contribute to delivering an overall student lifecycle experience, including signposting students to opportunities and raising awareness, liaising with Departments and Schools regarding the approval of proposed activities, administering records and grants, reporting, providing guidance and pastoral support to students pre-departure, while on placement and on return.

The post holder will ideally have experience working in study and work abroad, internationalisation and/or partnership development within the Higher Education sector. They should be able to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment, have a good eye for detail and the ability to work on their own initiative. The post holder will be adept at forming effective working relationships with a diverse and growing set of stakeholders and have good team working skills. Previous experience working with contracts or collaboration agreements will be beneficial.

The Associate Director will join an inclusive and experienced team that supports the College’s global engagement, a key aspect of Vassar’s liberal arts education. The core function of OIP is to steward student participation in education abroad. At Vassar, nearly 50% of students study abroad for a full semester or an academic year prior to graduation; additional students participate in short-term programs associated with on-campus classes or special programs.

The OIP partners with faculty to administer Vassar programs in London and Clifden, and consortium programs in Berlin, Bologna, Paris, and Madrid. OIP also manages Vassar’s exchange partnerships with institutions in Paris, Beijing, Tokyo, Kyoto, Exeter, Toulouse, and Singapore. In addition to Vassar programs, the office manages a list of approximately 130 other approved programs that students may access. OIP also supports a number of additional global partnerships and initiatives.
