Harnessing intercultural competencies for peacebuildingTo explore the potential of intercultural competencies to serve as an enabler for peace in fragile, conflict-affected and post-conflict contexts, the UNESCO Series of Regional Expert Consultations on Intercultural Competencies for Peacebuilding was organized by the Social and Human Sciences Sector in June-September 2023.

 

Numerous recommendations were presented by the experts answering three main questions:

  1. What are the key elements of intercultural competencies in the context of peacebuilding?
  2. Why do we need intercultural competencies for conflict prevention, resolution and post-conflict reconciliation and healing?
  3. How to develop intercultural competencies, especially in fragile, conflict-affected and post-conflict contexts?
