Business Communication: The Center for Management Communication in the Marshall School of Business invites applications for a full-time Assistant, Associate, or full Professor of Clinical Management Communication (non-tenure-track, rank dependent on experience and qualifications) beginning in academic year 2013-14.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in communication strategy, organizational and leadership communication, and advanced writing for business. We are especially interested in applicants with expertise in the areas of new media, business ethics, workplace diversity, and international/cross-cultural communication. Service responsibilities to the department, school, and university are also required.

Strong applicants will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, extensive hands-on business experience in today’s global marketplace, a command of classroom technology and new media, and a Ph.D. in a related field.

The Center for Management Communication is the oldest and largest unit of its kind in the U.S., with 24 full-time faculty members from a range of professional and disciplinary backgrounds. “I am Mara Adelman (Seattle University, author of BEYOND LANGUAGE: Cross-cultural Communication for ESL), and I am heading to Mekelle University in Ethiopia on a Fulbright assignment, for a 42 days series of lectures, seminars, workshops on various topics in communication. The Journal of Intercultural Communication Research (JICR), a publication of the World Communication Association focuses on quantitative, qualitative, critical, and rhetorical research related to intercultural and cross-cultural communication. JICR publishes manuscripts that report on the interrelation between culture and communication within a single nation/culture or across nations/cultures. Authors are invited to submit manuscripts via electronic attachment to be considered for publication in volumes 40-42 (2011-2013). Manuscripts should be submitted via Manuscript Central. Manuscripts should be no more than 25 Pages 12 pt., double-spaced, 1 inch margins), not counting references, tables or figures, and must conform to the requirements of the most recent Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). Research on the use of human participants must have been conducted in compliance with acceptable nation or international standards. (e.g., regulations of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) on voluntary participation, informed consent, deception, and debriefing. The manuscript should not have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. A detachable cover page should include the manuscript title, each author’s name mailing address, email address, telephone and fax numbers. Author identification should include each author’s current affiliation and address, highest degree earned, the institution granting the degree, and the year granted. A 50-100 word abstract and a list of keywords should follow the title page. Table and figures must be in APA style, and on separate pages and no included in the text. They should be understandable independent of the text, but their approximate position should be indicated in the text and they should be referred to in the text. Authors are responsible for supplying copies of figures in finished form suitable for reproduction.

Tenure-Track Position
The Department of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking candidates for a full-time Communication Generalist position beginning Fall, 2012.

The ideal candidate will have academic preparation and at least two years experience teaching communication courses at the college level. The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach theoretical and skill-based communication courses which should include several of the following: Introduction to Human Communication (the basic course), Cross Cultural Communication, Public Speaking, Persuasion, Gender Communication, Communication Theory, and courses in our new Corporate and Health Communication emphasis. Teaching graduate classes and overseeing graduate students’ capstone projects is expected. Ability to oversee graduate teaching assistants in the basic course is preferred. Experience with classroom technology and online delivery is desirable. Evidence of scholarly activity preferred. Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field is required for tenure-track appointment. ABDs will also be considered for a non-tenure-track appointment that will convert to tenure-track upon successful completion of terminal degree. The teaching load for this position is 4-4 with occasional course releases for purposes of conducting research available.
