The Director provides strategic planning and management for the Center for Global Engagement in support of its mission to enhance campus internationalization through immigration services and support, bilateral exchange programs, an academic certificate, and a variety of social and educational programs open to the entire campus community.

Provide strategic planning and leadership to the multiple areas in the CGE: International Student and Scholar Services, Global Exchanges, Global Citizenship Certificate program, Intercultural Programs, Communication, Special Programs and the CGE administrative team; to ensure the areas continue to meet the needs of the university through data analytics, staffing, budget allocations, and development of policies and procedures, and contribute to the growth of campus wide internationalizations efforts. Increase the visibility of the CGE and the variety of programs and services provided through marketing and social media, and serve as a key resource to departments regarding international initiatives, immigration or related topics. Ensure data collection to show outcomes of programs and services.

Establish and maintain international partnerships with universities around the world and contribute to FSU’s Strategic Plan to increase international exchanges and enrollment in GCC. Work in collaboration with the Assistant Provost for International Initiatives in support of the university initiatives and co-chair the Visiting Scholar Committee. Chair the CGE/Provost Internal Working group in support of exchange proposals and work to identify new partners to expand exchange portfolio.

Kenyon College invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator, Center for Global Engagement. This is a 12-month position in the Center for Global Engagement, reporting to the Director, Center for Global Engagement. The Program Coordinator provides support for all aspects of the Center for Global Engagement functions. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Serve as Designated School Official for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program.
  • Coordinate Friendship Family and Meet the World in Knox County programs.
  • Organize OCS Information Day.
  • Assist with all aspects of International Pre-Orientation, OCS meetings and workshops.
  • Assist with OCS advising, interviews, application process, application reviews and evaluation process.
  • Assist with all aspects of international student advising.

Florida State U Job Ad: Global Engagement

Teaching Faculty I at Center for Global Engagement, Florida State University

The Center for Global Engagement at Florida State University invites applications for a Teaching Faculty I position. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month appointment to begin in May/June 2017. The primary responsibility will include teaching undergraduate classes for the Global Citizenship Certificate program: up to four courses in the fall and spring (4+4), and one summer course OR 2-3 courses in the fall and spring combined with providing intercultural training and workshops for the Global Partner Certificate. The undergraduate courses include two required courses for the Global Citizenship Certificate program. Global Perspectives (IFS2070) is designed to introduce the students to the basic concepts, theories, functions and behaviors associated with intercultural communication. Global Citizenship (IFS 3125) is a capstone course where students synthesize and reflect on their intercultural and global experiences acquired throughout the Certificate, and apply their global learning in a final synthesis project. Both courses are approved as part of FSU’s new Liberal Studies for the 21st Century curriculum. Intercultural training includes workshops for the Global Partner Certificate. The Global Partner Certificate is a Center for Global Engagement (CGE) professional development initiative that began in the Fall of 2010. It is designed to help participants develop intercultural communication skills and competencies, and increase their intercultural awareness, knowledge and skills.

Qualifications Ph.D. in Intercultural Communication, Global Studies, Global Affairs, International Affairs, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Cultural Studies or a related field is required at the time of hire. (ABD candidates with projected completion date prior to appointment start will also be considered). Up to two years of experience in teaching undergraduate courses in Intercultural Communication, Global Studies, International Affairs or closely related areas. Experience designing and facilitating intercultural communication workshops. Preferred Commitment to intercultural understanding; Experience using intercultural competency assessment instruments; Knowledge of a second language.

Other Information This position reports to the Program Director of the Global Citizenship Certificate.
