Assistant Professor of Communication Studies

Ohio University seeks an Assistant Professor of Intercultural Communication for the Athens campus. Duties include: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in interpersonal communication, organizational communication, particularly nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on globalization and intercultural communication, in seminar and large-lecture courses. Must be prepared to advise undergraduates; PhD students within the School of Communication Studies, mentor teaching associates; engage in program of research related to the areas of interpersonal/organizational/intercultural communication.

Candidates should have an established program of research evidenced through publication in communication journals as well as participation in professional conferences. Required: PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Communication or related field. Must have 2 years of teaching experience in a wide range of communication subjects at the undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly in the areas of interpersonal communication, organizational communication and/or intercultural communication. Teaching experience obtained during graduate studies will be accepted in fulfillment of the requirement.

Ohio U fellowship for Chinese students

The Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University seeks students from China to apply for Enlight Foundation Graduate Fellowships beginning in fall 2011 for admission in fall 2012.

The Enlight Foundation will fund multiple fellowships per year that provide master’s or PhD students an annual stipend of at least $12,000. The stipends will be accompanied by tuition waivers provided by Ohio University.

Eligibility criteria are:
*Status as full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in or accepted for admission to Ohio University’s Scripps College of Communication graduate programs and receiving a grant or scholarship for the full tuition.
*Status as non-residents, non-citizens, or residents/citizens who have resided in the United States for five years or less prior to the first day of school of the year of application.
*Financial need.
*Cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 at prior institutions attended, or a ranking within the top 10 percent of the applicant’s undergraduate class.
*Student must be from China.
Recipients will be chosen principally on the basis of their academic performance or potential. The fellowship may be renewed for up to three academic years, provided the recipients continue to meet eligibility criteria and make satisfactory progress toward a degree.

In addition to the stipend, recipients may seek up to $3,000 in research and instructional support.
