Organizational Communication & Leadership Program
Three organizational communication positions: one position as an associate professor with tenure and two as assistant professor tenure-track positions.

All of the successful candidates should be broadly trained in the area of organizational communication. Successful candidates should have a terminal degree in the discipline or closely related field. Candidates should be able to teach undergraduate introductory communication classes as well as upper-level courses in organizational communication and leadership, public speaking, business and professional speaking, communication theory, research methods and interest in developing and implementing curricula that address multicultural issues.  We seek applicants from a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. The teaching load is 3/3 for all three positions and all full-time faculty are expected to recruit and advise students.  The College is planning to develop graduate programs in communication in the future.  Salary based on qualifications and experience.

2.     Assistant professor, tenure track. Strategic Communication Program
Visual Communication Instructor: Graphic Design Specialization
The Strategic Communication Program is searching for an outstanding teacher in visual communication who specializes in graphic design for public relations and advertising. The full-time, three-year renewable instructor position will begin in August 2012. We are seeking an accomplished professional and an experienced instructor, who has a passion for teaching and design and would bring that passion and energy into a college classroom.  All full-time faculty are expected to advise and recruit students.
The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in beginning to advanced levels of graphic design, 2D design publishing, motion graphics, advertising and related industry software for print and online publishing, and all digital media; as well as participate in student advising, curriculum development, senior project reviews, program committee work and service at the University level.  An ongoing program of creative work is expected.
Qualifications: Minimum of a master’s degree in Communication Design, Advertising, Digital Art, Art & Design Education, Fine Arts, or related area is required. Minimum 6 years professional experience in graphic design-related field is expected. College teaching experience is a definite plus. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and an eye for great concept and design, and previous experience interacting with diverse communities.  The teaching load for this position is fulltime: 4 courses per semester.  These courses emphasize the application of design and production principles to advertising and public relations materials.

Dean, College of Communication

Butler University invites nominations and applications for the position of dean of the College of Communication. The dean is the principal academic and administrative leader of the college and reports to the provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Created in 2010, the College of Communication brought together longstanding departments and courses that include: communication sciences and disorders; creative media and entertainment; the Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism; media, rhetoric and culture; organizational communication and leadership; and strategic communication.

The College of Communication’s founding dean will be responsible for the overall academic, administrative and fiscal leadership of the college. Major responsibilities include: maintaining academic programs of high quality; promoting an organizational climate that fosters excellence in teaching, research, professional practice and service; enhancing the college’s contribution to research and creative activity; securing external support for academic programs and initiatives; fostering the continued professional development of faculty and staff; and recruiting and instruction of students who will serve as future leaders in the communication professions and in the academy.
