In 2017 La Trobe University will celebrate its 50th anniversary and in celebrating both our founding Vice Chancellor and our future, the College of Arts, Social Science & Commerce will fund a set of David Myers Research Fellowships for a period of 3 years. Up to 6 Research Fellowships (post-doctoral research fellowships) ranging from Level A to Senior Research Fellow will be appointed.

The positions
The Research Fellows will propose and undertake projects aligned with areas of research strength, Research Focus Areas (RFAs), Disciplinary Research Programs (DRPs) or active Research Centres. This will include the following:
Conduct and publish, high quality, high impact research and other scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as part of a team.
Obtain, or assist in obtaining, research funding from external sources.
Form productive research partnerships
Participate in professional activities including presentations at conferences and seminars in field of expertise.
Provide advice within the field of the employee’s research to Honours and postgraduate students.

In addition, the Senior Research Fellow will also;
Provide leadership in research related activities
Make a significant contribution to the discipline at the national and international level, demonstrated by a strong record of published work or other scholarly activities.
Supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR), students.
Contribute to building a robust and ambitious research culture within La Trobe

The candidate
To be successful in the role you will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and possess demonstrated relevant academic experience. You will also possess:
Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published, relative to opportunity;
Sound analytical skills with an ability to communicate complex information clearly in English both orally and in writing;
Demonstrated ability to supervise, or co-supervise, honours and postgraduate students; and
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively with staff and students from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Short–term post-doctoral fellowships (France)

The Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme and its partners offer post-doctoral fellowships to researchers in the social and human sciences for periods from 1 to 6 months.

The program breaks down into two sections
1. The INCOMING program
This program targets researchers affiliated with an institution of higher education and research or a public/private research institute based aboard wishing to undertake a research stay in France.
2. The OUTGOING program
This program targets researchers residing and affiliated with a French institution of higher education and research or a public/private research institute who would like to benefit from a research stay in another country.

Post-doc FMSH (Paris)

Call for post-doctoral application : Gerda Henkel Stiftung – FMSH – 2015

As part of the partnership between the Gerda Henkel Stiftung and the Collège d’études mondiales, two post-doctoral grants will be awarded, for a period of 12 months, to two young researchers living outside of France.

The Collège d’études mondiales is a center of exchange and reflexion for researchers in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The institution faces head-on the methodological, epistemological and conceptual changes demanded of those who interpret contemporary phenomena.

Candidates’ research projects must be devoted to one of the following two research areas:
“Social progress and global justice”
Relevant disciplines: philosophy, political science, economics, sociology, anthropology, history or philosophy of law, history or philosophy of economics.
“Images, bodies and techniques in the global era”
Relevant disciplines: history of art, aesthetics, philosophy, political science, anthropology, anthropology or sociology of medicine.

Funding
This post-doctoral grant is worth 2,000€ per month. Travel expenses from home countries to Paris will be taken care of by the institution. The post-doctoral researchers are responsible for the costs of medical insurance.

Qualifications for admission
The admissions process for candidates will focus on the quality of the their scientific backgrounds as well as their post-doctoral projects and their integration into the research conducted at the Collège d’études mondiales.

The conditions for eligibility are the following:
*Candidates must hold a PhD by the date that applications are due, having presented a thesis.
*Candidates must have lived in France for less than twelve months in the last three years.
*Candidates may submit their applications only within the first six years after the presentation of their theses.
*Candidates should be fluent in French.

The application should include (in English or French):
*Doctorate degree (PhD).
*Candidate’s Curriculum Vitae and publications.
*A research project with a bibliography of main works cited (project + bibliography no more than 5 pages).

The USC Annenberg School Post-Doctoral fellowships in Digital Diversity

USC’s School of Communication at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism is seeking two Postdoctoral Scholars. The Annenberg School Post-Doctoral fellowships in Digital Diversity will support new scholars interested in faculty and research careers who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research and service. In particular we are interested in work at the intersection of diversity and digital informatics.

As communications media serve increasingly diverse and global constituencies, understanding of the ways in which differences in gender, class, ethnicity, national origin and other ‘fault lines” can divide us and present barriers to communication becomes even more critical. We seek candidates who are interested in a broad array of topics in the area, including barriers to adoption of digital technologies by underrepresented groups; media diversity and public policy; representation of women and minorities in the media; social networking and political empowerment; assistive and adaptive technologies for persons with disabilities; and diverse voices in user-generated content.  Candidates should have competencies in robust quantitative and qualitative techniques for mining and analysis of large data sets from media sources across multiple platforms.

Our program will offer two postdoctoral research fellowships for up to two years each (2014-2016), which will include professional development and faculty mentoring to outstanding scholars in the fields of digital diversity whose research, teaching, and service will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity.  Fellowship recipients perform research in a wide range of methodologies within the discipline of communication, with a focus on diversity within digital media.

Candidates who earned their Ph.D. after July 1, 2012 or will have their degree in hand by July 1, 2014 are eligible to apply.  The Ph.D. degree must come from an institution other than USC.   Candidates will come from diverse fields, but should also have an interest in, or a potential for, a wider contribution to the interdisciplinary field of informatics and digital knowledge.

Digital Diversity Postdoctoral Scholars will receive $50,000 per year, plus health insurance, with the possibility of receiving up to $10,000 in research and conference travel support. Postdoctoral Scholars will be expected to teach one course each year.
