Tate welcomes applications for a Fellow to explore the British-Mexican artist Leonora Carrington’s interest in theatre, performance and performativity. The Fellow will undertake foundational research: locating, analysing, and contextualising theatrical materials across archives, manuscripts, correspondence, photographs and ephemera and situating these within Carrington’s transnational career. An international Fellow with knowledge of South American art, culture, and performance histories in the second half of the twentieth century will be particularly well placed to trace how Carrington’s performative work functioned as a vehicle for cross-cultural dialogue, collaboration, and exchange.
