Media Literacy Week Resources 2018

Applied ICD4th Annual U.S. Media Literacy Week, November 5-9, 2018.

“Media Literacy is the ability to ACCESS, ANALYZE, EVALUATE, COMMUNICATE and CREATE using all forms of communication. The mission of Media Literacy Week is to highlight the power of media literacy education and its essential role in education today.” Media literacy is a prerequisite for intercultural dialogue; without it, dialogue cannot occur.

NAMLE provides a wide variety of resources, including Free DVD/Streaming + Discussion Guide (for a limited time).

Media Literacy Week 2018The first opportunity offers up to 500 secondary and post-secondary educators free access to five episodes of TruTV’s original online series Adam Ruins Everything and an accompanying discussion guide to engage students in the process of critically questioning everyday information they accept or assume as fact. Adam Ruins Everything features comic Adam Conover who uses a combination of comedy, history and science to debunk misconceptions about a variety of topics and ideas. Educators will have the option to access the series in their classroom through either a mailed DVD or a password protected link for streaming. Educators interested in receiving access to the episodes and the free discussion guide can submit a request here. This is an exclusive offer for Media Literacy Week 2018 (Nov 5 – 9).
