CFP Digital Social Media Cultures

“PublicationCall for Papers: Digital social media cultures: New languages and configurations for participation, dialogue and collectivity, Special issue of ICONO14. Deadline: 31 March 2022.

Special issue editors: María Amor Pérez-Rodríguez (Spain), Amanda Alencar (Netherlands), Daniela Jaramillo-Dent (Spain).

You are invited to participate in empirical research or theoretical interventions on the following topics:

  • Languages ​​and codes that characterize certain groups in social networks
  • Languages ​​and codes that characterize certain groups of creators on social networks
  • Content creation strategies to generate collective visibility within social networks
  • Communicative elements for connectivity, affinity and the expression of collective messages
  • Mimesis and its role in the construction of trend content, activism and / or digital cultures
  • Interactions: dialogue and debate powered by the use of connective and mimetic elements
  • Typologies of connected content: activism, marginalized groups, extremist groups, teaching-learning, participatory cultures

Questions you are trying to answer:

  • What types of languages, codes and communicative elements enhance the visibility of collective experiences?
  • What characteristics do trending content have on various social networks?
  • What characteristics does the content generated by certain groups on social networks have?
  • What role do content characteristics have in the construction of identity and affinity within different digital cultures / activist groups / others?
  • What types of content generate dialogue or debate on social networks?
  • What functions does mimesis have within digital cultures and / or trend content?
