Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) is pleased to announce up to 10 AIAS-AUFF Fellowships. The AIAS-AUFF Junior and Senior Fellowships are available for curiosity-driven, talented researchers from all over the world and within all research disciplines. Junior fellowships last for 23 months, senior fellowships for 11 month, commencing on 1 September 2025.

The call is open to curiosity-driven researchers and welcomes applications from researchers:

  • From all research disciplines of any nationality
  • Who comply with a mobility demand as applicants must not have resided or carried out their main work activity in Denmark for more than 12 months in the two years immediately prior to the deadline of the call.
  • With a career experience of 2-10 years after completion of their PhD (23 months junior fellowships)
  • With a career experience of 11+ years after completion of their PhD (11 months senior fellowships)

Aarhus Institute for Advanced Studies: Visiting Fellowships 2025-26 (Denmark)

Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies at Aarhus University offers a number of visiting fellowships to outstanding researchers from abroad who are looking for an opportunity to engage in the international and interdisciplinary research community of AIAS and to collaborate with the research environments at Aarhus University (AU). Visiting fellows will have their daily office space at AIAS, and will have the opportunity to participate in the activities at AIAS and at the relevant research environments at AU. AIAS offers optimal office facilities, and a thriving international and interdisciplinary community with joint social and academic activities.

Applicants must have a PhD and a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research experience at the time of the application deadline. AIAS Visiting Fellowships are without salary, and it is therefore expected that successful applicants will bring their salary with them from their home institution. Applicants should have active collaborations with Aarhus University and have established contact with a researcher or research community at Aarhus University. An open-minded approach and a curiosity to other academic disciplines than your own is a great advantage.

Up to 15 AIAS-COFUND fellowships are available for the most talented researchers from around the world and within all research disciplines and topics. The scheme is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (grant agreement no 754513) and Aarhus University Research Foundation.

There are two types of fellowships:

* AIAS-COFUND Junior Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers with a career experience of 2-10 years. Duration from 12-36 months.
* AIAS-COFUND Senior Fellowships for researchers with a career experience of 10+ years. Duration from 6-18 months.

Who can apply? The target group of the Programme is talented researchers at all career stages with a PhD and a minimum of two years of full-time postdoctoral research experience at the time of the application deadline
